Yep, I Did It

and...

it went ok I guess, but as my friend Misty so greatly put it...

ME + RUNNING = HATE!

What do all of you like about running anyways? It's grueling. I did better than I expected but was only able to run for a block, walk for a block, run for a block...you get the idea.

I think you could probably hear me breathing for at least 3 blocks away and it truly felt like my ankles were gonna snap. It seemed like I was running soooo slow, in slow motion almost. But I did it! All in all, my route took me about 2 miles. It's my regular route I take when I walk so it was very familiar.

I've decided to give it one month. I will commit to running 3-4 times a week until we leave for Phoenix in a month. I like the cardiovascular benefits running brings but if I don't see a change in my body shape (namely my thighs!)...you'll be talking to an "EX" runner!

I do have to say I've felt great all day. I felt like I accomplished something special...and so far, nothing hurts too bad. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

My next run will be on Wed night or Thurs morning!

I am still chuckling.....

Good for you though..... I'm sticking to walking, or to my Tae Bo tapes (my kids think those are to-die-for-funny)..... Running.... I just jiggle too much, and it's hard... and I'm a wimp....

You on the other hand.... HOORAY for you!

Hooray Linda! Good for you!!

I started running in slmost the same way, jogging for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then walking, then jogging, etc. I used the treadmill first, then worked up to outside. It WAS HARD and I did not always like it (because I could not do it very well at first), but I liked the fact I was challenging myself. Little by little (a couple of months) I got better and was able to run for longer intervals! Be patient with the process. :)

This was about 3 years ago and now it has been a part of my lifestyle and I am so thankful I stuck it out at the beginning. So much of running is mental too.

Take it slow at first, listen to your body, stretch and hydrate. I still follow run:walk intervals of 5 minutes running:1 minute walk break. It helps keep my energy for longer distances.

Okay, sorry for the novel--but I get soooo excited when others give running a chance. Good luck to you and keep us posted!!!

That is very impressive for sure.
I use a treadmill too. Now that it is warmer, a jot outside will be nice. I ride bikes too.
Holly gave you some great advice. Just keep us posted and we'll keep giving you kudo motivation. This is a very worthy and brave thing I think. Can't wait for run 2 tomorrow. Report in ;)

WOW!! I was expecting a post about sore legs and not being able to crawl out of bed!! I am proud of you. I run on the treadmill for VERY VERY short intervials. I enjoy it but have no desire to move past my 5 minutes at a time on the treadmill.

I am proud of you!!

You go girl. What motivation. You are going to be one hot mama for the summer. Heck, you ARE one hot mama... running and all.

As they say in Swiss-German, hup,hup,hup....or for a more familiar term.... go,go,go.

:)

Well Done Linda!!!

I totally get what you are saying, I have always said that the one thing I would like to do is be able to run, you know the people who say "I'm just going out for a run" I wanted to be one of those - Why? I dont have a clue!!!

Unfortunately due to a knee injury about 20 years ago, running is never going to be my thing.

I am so impressed you are prepared to give it a month - yeah!!!!

Looking forward to hearing how it all goes.

But I am trying to also get into it at the gym & for the life of me can't understand why all these women run for an hour at a time ging no where!!!!!
