Greetings from Colorado

We arrived in beautiful Colorado on Thursday and have been on the go ever since...and hitting every buffet along the way! Our first night here, we were welcomed with this...

Yep, that's hail alright!

Friday we went to a gorgeous Park and Amphitheatre called Red Rocks. In 1927, the City and County of Denver purchased this 640-acre park for $54,000. The amphitheatre was completed in 1941 and today it is used for Easter sunrise services, high school graduations, and nighttime concerts during the summer months. Everyone from the Beatles to Sheryl Crow to John Mellencamp has played at Red Rocks. This is a picture looking down at the stage from the top of the amphitheatre. From this viewpoint, I had the perfect view of downtown Denver which was about 45 miles away.

Today we took a drive out to Colorado Springs to tour the United States Air Force Academy. You talk about a gorgeous setting. The Academy is nestled up against the mountains and it's just breathtaking. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the Academy.

I felt it was an honor to be able to walk the grounds of the Air Force Academy...the only one of its kind in the United States, and one with so much history behind it. My heart swelled with pride and I truly felt blessed, and proud, to be an American. If you ever go to Colorado Springs, make an effort to visit the Air Force Academy. Guaranteed, it will be the highlight of your trip.

Oh what a fun trip! My sister used to live in Co. Springs so I have been to the places you are writting about today. So fun.

Don't they have wonderful food in CO?

Has it been hot there? It's been hot here in CA.

Hey, I'm going to put together a lunch or tea for bloggers in and around OC. Do you think you would be interested in being put on the list?

Hugs,
Joanne

I still can't believe that you didn't invite me. I want to go with you and tag along. You make everything look like so much fun.

Beautiful pictures. I will have to go to CO other than a plane stop.

Have a continued great trip.

Red Rock is gorgeous!
My dad was in the airforce before I was born, so I enjoyed seeing all those pics of the base.
Continue having loads of fun!

I love Colorado! My best friends husband was stationed there in CO Springs & she took me around there too. It was pretty cool. But we never got out of the car due to the snow...
I have really missed you & thought about you all week. It was hot in CA when we were driving home..

When I was a young girl, I visited many of those places when we took a trip. It's beautiful country and you picked a perfect time of the year to visit :-)

Blessings,

Hi Linda!
Haven't been to visit you in a bit, I have been so busy in my yard and gardens, after coming home from TN! It really has taken me some time to get back in the blogging swing of things...your trip looked like a lot of fun, I love CO, my mom and dad and grandma all live in Canon City. I enjoy it sooo much when we go!
Hope all is well with your handsome son and his girl troubles, also so happy to see your dear mother blogging! Good for her, I will go visit her next and say hello!
XO,
DL

P.S. How is dear sweet Jake this week????
