First off, I was pleasantly surprised when I asked how much I weighed last year at my visit and I was told I hadn't gained anything since then...not one pound. This was a total shocker because my clothes sure don't fit me like they used to so I thought I had gained some weight. I know I've put on inches and I blame alot of it on blogging. I spend much more time in front of the computer nowadays and I'm not as active as I used to be. This is a reality that has hit me hard lately and I'm trying to get back to the old me...the active me.
Secondly, I was happy to hear that according to the Dr. everything looked fine and that everything is still where it's supposed to be! That was a relief. Nothing's out of place at this stage in the game...hey, you never know!
We talked about Estrogen replacement but that's not something that I want to do at this point...truthfully I don't think I need it. I must still be producing some Estrogen because the good news is...I haven't grown a moustache or beard yet! She did recommend St. John's Wort and Black Cohosh, herbal supplements that act like Estrogen. She suggested these to help with mood swings, among other things. I feel like I do occasionally have mood swings, but not often, and I don't know if it can be attributed to menopause. This year has been a tough one, one with alot of changes for me and I'm now with a retired hubby remember. This can cause mood swings in and of itself. Anyways, I'm off to the vitamin store today to purchase both of these herbs.
On a lighter note, we went to dinner last night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We went to a place called Famous Dave's B-B-Q. It's new here in town although not new to California. The food was great and the company even better. The adorable blond sitting next to me in the picture below is Kim. Kim and I are the best of friends and have been for over 10 years. Tom, Kim, and their 3 kids are like family to us...we've traveled together many times and shared every aspect of our lives together. I cried on her shoulder when my son was 17 and disrespectful, and she's cried on mine now that her sons are reaching that age. I love them dearly...and now I miss them dearly. They moved in December, only a few miles away, but it's not the same. I look at their house across the street and still expect to see them there. Sometimes I think about walking across the street to go tell Kim something and then I remember...they don't live there anymore.
It was so wonderful to see and spend time with Kim...and the rest of the group too. These people are caring, genuine, and we're so lucky to have them as friends, very very lucky.
Here's to good friends!
One more thing, see the lady with the glasses, that's Monica. Monica is a grandmother yet guess what she's doing this weekend...she's participating in a triathlon! Way to go Monica...and good luck!

Good friends + good food = delightful times
Linda- I hear you on the menopause thing. I am so there. I hope it all works out for you. I can't stand the up and downs feelings that go with that. It is so annoying.
We just got a Dave's. It opened 2 months ago. I can't wait to go sometime. It might be awhile. We got an Olive Garden 5 years ago, and I might possibly the only one that hasn't gone. ;)
Your friends looks so nice and glad you had some fun times.
So funny you posted this! I had an interesting visit with the Gyno and wasn't sure if I should blog about it. Maybe I will.
My daughter LOVES Famous Dave's. Every year when we venture to Cedar Point, we always have to go to Famous Dave's at some time during the day! Then they went and opened one in town. Not the same!
Looks like you ended the day in a good way. The Dr appt doesn't sound fun but yeah for not gaining weight. I'm afraid when I go that won't be the case.
I cant believe how much our lives mirror one another. I too just succombed to that 'fun' annual visit!! All is well-whew!!! Thanks so much for your kind comments on my blog!!
Hi Linda,
That's good news from the Dr. I've been having hot flashes, and night sweats for a couple of years. I'm not taking anything, too scared. The hard part is when I turn into someone else and act crazy. Poor husband gets it. I think I'll try what your Dr. recommended. Can't hurt :) My Dr. said this could last for a few more years...oh happy day. Famous Dave is from MN, so we've been eating there for years. The pulled chicken sandwich is pretty good. Oh, now I'm getting hunry :) I am glad I am a woman, just didn't know how many "things" would change when I got "older". Have a good weekend. Warmly, with hot flashes, Deb
I am so glad everything is good with the body. That is so amazing that you haven't gained a pound. Way to go... Maybe I'll send you some cookies! :)
Glad you had a great dinner. Looks like a lot of fun. We have those restaurants here, but have never been to one..
hi, linda:)
so happy to hear all is where it's supposed to be... and all is well!!!
i hear you on the extra blogger inches:S
isn't it awesome to spend time with good friends... tell your friend, "good luck!!!" on that triathlon:D
love,
dani
Linda, I am glad to hear that all went well with your appt. I took St. John's and had an issue with 'gas' so quit taking it, then found out if I took it on a full tummy, it actually helped! Even though I wasn't 'depressed' at the time, it did give me a different perspective and pepped up my step! :)
Glad you were able to enjoy your friends! How great to have them!
Take Care,
Sonya
Glad all is well at the dr. visit. Those are never fun - I just had mine as well.
You look like you have wonderful friends - nothing is more important than loving friends and family!
Good Luck Monica!!
Linda, that is great news you received at the doctor's office!
I'm glad the doc's visit went well. I guess as well as an appt like that can go! LOL
We don't have Famous Daves, sounds like a fun time
Glad to hear your app't went ok. Let us know your opinion on the herbs. I'd rather go that route when the time comes...which is creeping up on me faster than I'd like!
God bless,
Brenda
