What In The World Took Us So Long!?!

Do you ever finish something, like how it looks, then ask yourself..."what in the world took us so long to get that done?" That's exactly what we've asked ourselves lately when we've finished a few of our latest projects.

In fact, we asked ourselves that yesterday!

We have a telephone outlet on the wall that I've been wanting to cover up(hide) for years now. I long ago took down the wall phone and was left with this...

So the big question for me, for a loooong time now, has been "what to do, what to do, WHAT TO DO" with the unsightly outlet since we don't have a wall phone anymore.

Then the lightbulb went on!

I mentioned earlier that we had a welcome sign near our back door that I took down when I hung up my framed keys. Well my hubby wasn't super impressed with the framed keys because he's always liked our welcome sign with the pineapple on it. In order to make both of us happy, I told him I'd find another place for the sign...and guess where I moved it.

Oh I love it when a plan comes together! Using some ribbon, I suspended it from a frame that I spray painted black a few weeks ago. I also put some double sided tape on the back of the welcome sign to adhere it to the wall outlet. I love how it looks! Hubby still gets to see the welcome sign that he likes so well, I got the outlet covered, and we both stood back and asked ourselves "what in the world took us so long!?!

To participate in Metamorphosis Monday or to see other Met Monday posts, head on over to Susan's. Wait till you see her before and after!

Very clever. I wish I had thought of that befor I had my whole kitchen torn apart for a redo and was told it would be a major deal to move that jack cause it was the main one. A cordles wall style sits in its spot and constantly gets knocked over. I'd much rather have something decorative!
If you don't mind me asking...what kind of dog do you have at the top of your blog page? It looks so much like my Havenese. Sooooo Cuuuute!!

Love the cover up : )

Many years ago we replaced a vanity in a bathroom in a house we'd lived in for 5 years just before we sold it (we replaced it to help the house sell). It was so inexpensive and we'd always disliked the bathroom and this one thing completely changed our minds. We were so wishing we'd done it years earlier.

Very clever -- yes, I have had those light bulb moments and for the life of me can't figure out why it took so long. Everyone is happy -- you don't have to look at the phone thing and your husband has his sign to look at!

Not only was this a great idea to cover up the phone outlet but it looks fantastic with the frame around it. Hugs, Loretta

I have those awful useless intercom systems in the wall. Took it out, put an oil painting over it and presto chango! Now the hole behind it is another matter :)

That looks great. Isn't it wonderful when the little things pay off in such a big way? I have a thing for pineapples, just love em.

What a great idea Linda! You are just too smart.

We have SO much to do around our little house. I have big plans and a bigger list! ha....

I was just sharing those with hubby the other day and making my mental list. Just seeing your beautiful laundry room was motivation for me.

Funny you should post this...Friday I was telling my husband we were going to have to get a new mailbox. The paint had begun to chip and it was such an eye sore. He said, "I can take that to work and paint it." Humm....just as simple as that. He had to work this weekend...took it to work, painted it and it looks good as new.

I'll skip over to Susan's blog to see her changes.

Have a great day!

Love,
Val

We've wondered what took us so long to do things too - sometimes a paint job can do wonders!

I love those "Aha" moments, but I do think the exact same thing, why did it take so long!

Sometimes the easiest decorating solutions are the best ones :-)

I've had quite a few "why didn't I do this sooner" moments. I recently painted all our hallway doors chocolate brown -- TOTALLY wish I'd done it sooner!!

Sometimes such a simple change can make all the difference in the world. What took you so long? lol.

Good thinking. Now I have an idea for my circuit breaker box which is so ugly even if it is in my laundry area.

I love it when something so small and easy makes such a big impact, and I often wonder the same thing myself, "Why on earth did I wait so long to do something about it?!" I love your idea of hanging something inside of the empty frame--so cute!
