Thrifty Thursday

Thank you Leigh for hosting Thrifty Thursday each week. To join in the fun or to visit other Thrifty Thursday participants, click here.

Even though I'm fairly new to the world of thrifting, it didn't take me long to discover that it's "hit and miss" with thrifting. Some trips to the Goodwill are fruitful and some not so much. Lucky for me, my recent trip to the Goodwill was a hit.

I've got definite plans for the goodies I brought home...all of which are in the process of getting spray paint make-overs.

The 3-tier shelf was $3.79. It was off white and covered with rust. I washed it down good, sanded over the rust areas, and gave it a fresh new coat of paint. We'll be redoing 2 bathrooms soon and I thought this might be nice in one of them. For now, I've got it in one of the bathrooms, sitting on the back of the toilet.

Not bad for $3.79 wouldn't you say!? It's now a dark color and goes great with the dark new hardware that's already been put on the cabinets.

As far as my other goodies, I spray painted the candle holders black...thinking ahead for Halloween! The red wire hanger will soon be white. Won't it be cute to use for different types of ornaments for holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Halloween, or Valentine's Day! And last but not least, I've got some fun plans for the plate. I liked the plate because it has pre-made holes in the back so that it can be hung from ribbon. Believe it or not, you can spray paint plates and I gave it a once over today. I'll be sure and post a picture of the plate project when I'm finished.

So there you have it, my Thrifty Thursday finds. Hope your latest thrifting trips have been as fruitful as mine.

Linda I have always envied someone who could look at something that isn't much and transform it into something fantastic. You are one of those people! I love the stand in the bathroom and I'll be waiting to see what you do with the rest! Hugs, Loretta

Ooooh, I'm totally in love with the red hanger thingy. You could tie family photos with a bit of ribbon and hang them on the tree, too. I love the red, but that's my color LOL

Great Thrifty finds!

so yesterday i was out and about and decided to go to our goodwill store...for the first time ever (thanks to your inspirations!)... there were racks and racks of clothing that i really couldnt find any rhyme or reason (order, sizes?) to and i really didnt have a TON of time to browse as i had a lot of stops on my list of things to get done....BUT i did manage to find two skirts....for 3$ a piece!!! how awesome is that!! i will have to go back when i have a little more time!

Ah, the power of spray paint! I love the transformation it can make, though I hate the way my hand feels crippled after too much time spent spraying.
