On A Whim...

I signed up on Facebook.

What was I thinking?

I don't know anything about Facebook and I really don't need anything else to waste my time on, especially if it involves more time on the computer. I truly don't know what possessed me to do it. I've had no interest in MySpace or Facebook but yet all of a sudden, out of the blue, I signed up!

So far, I don't see the appeal. Maybe I'm not seeing it for what it is, I don't know. Maybe I'll like it better once I figure out what I'm doing or when I discover why everyone is so crazy about it.

I've got family and a few blogging buddies as "friends" along with a couple of people who want to be my "friend" yet I don't even know them. Kinda scary and weird!

Like I said, what was I thinking!?! If you're a fan of Facebook, I'm all ears.

You know, I am just tired of putting myself "out there". And as it is, blogging is time consuming. I also enjoy the comaraderie in blogging that I don't see Facebook as having. But if you are curious, go for it!! Let us know if you like it!!

Hi Linda...

I am right there with you! I just signed up as well. I have several friends who live quite a distance from me and wanted me to be able to see their pix....Soooo....now I'm on Facebook....no time for that sort of thing....Don't you think blogging is more fun?

Thanks for coming to visit!

Blessings,
Spencer

I love Facebook. I have reconnected with so many people who otherwise would've just been gone from my life. I am not great with the day to day (I got caught up in that for a while, but it sucked too much time away) but I really do like it for reconnecting.

I'm on Facebook and I enjoy it. It's a way to keep in touch with people I didn't before. I've found or been found by old classmates, relatives that don't live near me and even blogging friends. It's much less time consuming than blogging. Hope it works for you!

My husband and I both finally gave in and joined not too long ago...we didn't even tell our kids and they were surprised when our names popped up on their sidebar as 'you may know this person'. I occasionally look at pics they post but we still communicate mostly by phone, text, email.

We joined because our college friends bugged us to get on...we've had fun catching up with them. And now that I'm back in the states its been fun to stay in touch with friends from overseas this way.

I'll see if I have email for you and if so I'll send you my fb name...I tend to get on fb when I get emails saying I have a message from someone. I don't check it everyday like my blog.

Happy Monday.

Hi Linda,

I said I would never do it, but about a month ago I got sucked in. But it has been fun because my family doesn't blog much, but they are on facebook so we can keep in touch that way. And I've reconnected with some old friends and cousins that I hadn't seen in a long time. Now I have a friend wanting me to Twitter. Blog, Facebook and Twitter? I won't have time to do anything now!!

Linda,
I have yet to become involved in the whole Facebook craze. Blogging takes up enough time as it is...I can't imagine adding one more thing to the pot!

Linda,

That is funny your wrote this post because like you I signed up for Facebook and haven't a clue "why." Also like you, I don't have time for something else on the computer. I popped on it yesterday and this has probably only been the 3rd time in 7 mths. I have been on it. I may delete it.

I'd rather blog.

Cheri

I'm there.. and I am even your friend.

Lots of people who don't blog actually do facebook and I love keeping up with them. It's actually the people that I say often that I enjoy the most on facebook. Its fun.. I spend a few minutes a day on there.

HOWEVER.. the games will get you suckered in if you are a game player. Farkle is dangerous!!!

I love Blogging!

I like it when people of the same likes, tastes, faith, and morals join me as a Follower and vis versa.
My friends from the past who still care, are still around.

I love Blogging!

I keep going back and forth on the Facebook thing--part of me wants to, but then I think it will just be one more thing I get frustrated about not having time to do.

I'm excited to hear of your recent trip to my state. Evergreen is a beautiful place, and only a 15-20 minute drive from where I live. A bit chillier than California, but beautiful!

I've enjoyed Facebook because I've gotten to find so many wonderful people from my past. Went to lunch with an old high school girlfriend I'd lost touch with just the other day.

Facebook is a great way to throw out a line or two and read a line or two from people whose lives you may be interested in but are not 'close' enough to call them on the phone. It sorta fills in that gap.

I haven't joined any groups nor do I play any games. One needn't spend a lot of time on Facebook (unless they want to). Even my introverted spouse thinks it's pretty cool and it about killed him to admit it!

You know I facebook!
I love being able to find so many of my old friends. It is also where I keep Derek's emails for his friends to read. I did the same for Kira while she was in Argentina.
I very seldom write thoughts and feelings on it like I do with my blog. I have a link to my blog on "my" page if someone wants to see it.

Hi Linda,
I signed up last week and WHAT WAS I THINKING?????
I don't think I'll keep it..I love to blog and that takes up enough of my time...plus I'm thinking that there is too much info in computer land!!
I'm no help!!! I'll probably delete it. I'm not really interested in it...WHAT WAS I THINKING???

I have had facebook for about 3 months and am loving it! I have reconnected with a lot of my old classmates and relatives that I would have otherwise not had contact with. I have become addicted to FarmTown too. If you dont want to spend a lot of time on the computer dont sign up for FarmTown! LOL But I recommend Facebook if you enjoy reconnecting with old friends and relatives that dont blog.

That's funny, Linda. I signed up too, mainly because my daughters wanted me too, but I just can't get into it. Maybe eventually. I'm still learning how to use it!

Hugs,
Donna

I don't think I'd go right to "fan" but I do like the fact that I can share and view pictures with family and friends. I mainly signed up so that my oldest and I could IM with each other. I've enjoyed that part of it.
I've had people want to be my friend just because we went to the same school etc. Not into that.
So I guess there's definitely pros and cons, right?!
