It's Friday

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: I'm thinking about making bacon for breakfast this morning, we do have company after all. Do you use "real" bacon that you fry up in a pan or do you use the pre-cooked bacon? If you use the real bacon, can you cook that in the microwave? I've never tried cooking real bacon in the microwave before but I'm always looking for a shortcut.

I used to buy the pre-cooked bacon for the campouts (that's the only time we eat bacon) but my husband didn't like it. I'm now back to cooking the "real" stuff.

Happy Friday!

I dont care for the precooked bacon either. Yes, you can cook it in the microwave and it tastes just like if you cooked it on the stove! I bought a microwave bacon rack, it drains the grease off as it cooks. Just cover it with a paper towel as it is cooking.Have a great weekend!

Go for the real stuff, I do! I cook it in the microwave, less mess, less splatter! I dont have a bacon rack used to, hmm, dont know where it went to? I use a dinner plate lined with paper towels, and top the bacon with a couple of towels. Remove the bacon after it is done, I usually have to cook it for at least 1 minute per slice, but keep checking your microwave could very well be stronger than mine. If you let the bacon cool on the paper towel before removing, it will stick then you will have eggs, bacon, and paper towel pieces for breakfast, enjoy, sounds yummy!

I just saw a Rachael Ray show the other day and she said she ALWAYS does it in the oven, less mess. I thought I'd try that sometime!

I use the pre-baked kind when I just need a few slices, but we don't like it as well as the real stuff either.

I use both...you can use real bacon in the microwave and its easier if you get a microwaveable bacon pan. If not stack it on several layers of papertowels and cover with a papertowel. It's about a minute per piece, slightly less...depending on your microwave.

I love the smell of bacon cooked in a skillet though!

I cook real bacon and I do it in the microwave alot.
It is easy. I have a microwave bacon rack but you can do it on a big plate too.
Just put a paper towel on the plate and lay your strips of bacon on it. Cover with another paper towel.
My rule of thumb is 1 minute for each piece of bacon. I check it half way through. Usually they cook to the perfect crispyness!
Good luck.

Real bacon for sure! It does great in the microwave as long as you use paper towels under and over. Sweet blog!

yum bacon. I have recently started cooking it in the oven. Good and crispy and not as greasy.

You can cook real bacon the in microwave, oven or on the stove. I always cook it on the stove. YUMMMMMM! We love it, but we certainly try to refrain from eating it too much!

I am with StalkerMom -- try cooking it in the oven. Also make extra for BLT's the next day. YUM.

We don't care much for the pre-cooked stuff. I cook the real deal, albeit rarely, but do it in on a flat pan in the oven...375 and just keep an eye on it. Turns out great.

Only real bacon will do.

I started to cook turkey bacon thinking that it was better for my family, but come to find out that it's not. So back to the real stuff and the husband is much happier!!
