Love That Lilly!

I've seen that many bloggers find the best clothing deals while out thrifting, but I'm not quite there yet. I'm still not sure how I feel about wearing other people's clothes. It never occurs to me to look through the clothes at the Goodwill, yet the clothing racks are the first place my sister heads to when she goes thrifting. I don't have the patience to sort through each item, piece by piece, and that is what you need to do when going through the clothes. I need to develop the patience because my sister has always looked like a million bucks, but for less!

A few weeks back I was walking past the dresses at the GW and the pattern on one particular dress popped out at me. I couldn't believe my eyes! There hanging was a Lilly Pulitzer summer dress, never been worn, tag and all. I don't know if you can see it, but it has an empire waist with piping and bow. Unfortunately, my photo skills don't do it justice. The dress is waaayyy cuter than this picture shows, and it really doesn't look like a tent!

Take a look at the original price tag! I paid $6.50.

Don't you think it would make a darling Easter dress paired with a cute little sweater and sandals. Never been worn, this I'll wear!

Cute find! That will be perfectly sweet for Easter. My BFF owns a consignment store and I love shopping there. It's fun to see all the treasures come and go. Have a blessed week!

You will look so cute wearing that! I want to see pictures too. I'm jealous of the good deal, and of the size 6 too!

I would gladly have paid the $152 if I could wear a size 6!! I think I got down to an 8 for about a week...that's it. LOL
Its a darling little number & I bet you get TONS of use out of it this summer. That has to be the best Nifty Thrifty bargain of the month!

I used to be just like you! The first time I went to a thrift store with my husband (yes, he shops at thrift stores, too), I was very skeptical. The smell wasn't all that great and I didn't want to touch any of the clothes. Then, I learned how to browse via the tag. In other words, I brand shop. Unless some fabric catches my eye (like your dress), I only look at the tags first. I love Talbots and J. Jill, and I have found my share at thrift stores. I have also learned how to flip through the racks pretty fast. It's a talent. :-) Enjoy your dress and future finds!!

I was a Goodwill 'snob' at first too. I shopped thrift stores for the junk make over projects. One day I finally stopped at the clothes because I'd seen the great deals others found. Well, my work wardrobe is now full of Lands End, Talbot, Liz C, Ralph Lauren, Gap, etc. I shop the 'tag' name brands and find them! I've also recently posted on a bunch of very classy sassy name brand purses I found at my Goodwill. Just wash it before you wear. ;-)

I can't wait to see it on you. I am a very thrifty shopper but I too have an aversion to buying secondhand clothing. I think I need to head to my local thrift store and re-think things. What a darling dress!

Wow, that may be the bargain of the year! We love Lilly around here too. I can understand the issues with other peoples clothes, but I would try to rationalize that I would not hesitate to buy a vintage tablecloth, wash it and use it on our dinner table...still, clothing and bed linens are an issue for me.

I never look at the clothes in GW either, I wouldn't know a bargain if it hit me in the face.. I've never heard of Lilly Pulitzer so I'd be none the wiser! Glad you found such a bargain though :-)

Cute dress. You'll look like a doll. I know what you mean about 2nd hand stuff. I've never bought any clothing yet, except to use to make pillows. I have a germaphobia and scrub everything I bring home. Good to see another little lady. I'm a size 8.

Very cute dress. I struggle with buying clothes at the thrift store. I feel like a snob but I do know a lot of people find some great deals. My aunt has very sensitive skin so brand new jeans can really irritate her. She prefers to get them at the thrift store because they are already broken in and are more comfortable against her skin.

SCORE! That would be darling with a sweater and sandals. How cute. I am like you, I am not sure how I feel about someone else's clothes but I did score on a apple green leather purse and some ked sneakers that looked new. I just clean everything (even new items) before I wear them. I can honestly say I haven't found anything that still had price tags on them, lucky you. I did notice the size, I don't think I have been in a size 6 in like never.

Oh, that dress is so sweet! And a great find! I have found a lot of 2nd had clothes that arejust amazing. so many with the tags still on, never worn. I have to admit, I hae been neglectful lately in taking the time to go through clothes. It does take a lot of time and patience.

Have a great day!

What a find! It's darling and will look super cute with a sweater and sandals!
I have a hard time finding things when I go to a thrift store. It all looks the same to me and I usually walk out with nothing!

I think there is a theme here - We all want to see you in it - ha ha!
It is a super cute dress - Love the color!
I am with you though - I have never been one who can look through racks of clothing at GW or Ross or whatever and find things - My daughter is a whiz at that, she did not get those skills from me.
