Tonight's The Big Night!

Will you be watching the Academy Awards on TV tonight?

I used to get so excited for Academy Awards night and would watch the show from start to finish. I'd stop and get dinner on my way home from work, then I'd plant myself in front of the TV for the night. I didn't want to miss one single minute of it. Over the last 5-10 years however, I've only seen bits and pieces of it, if any at all. Since we don't go to the movies often, it seems like a waste of time to watch the awards when I haven't even seen any of the movies. Tonight will be different though. I'll be watching with anticipation, because...

1) I saw Blindside and Julie and Julia. I loved them both!

2) I'll have a connection to the show!

My friend Melanie at work told me on Thursday that her daughter Courtney auditioned and was picked to be one of the girls handing the Oscar to the winner tonight. She'll be one of those beautiful young ladies that brings out the Oscar and then helps escort the winners and presenters off the stage. Although Courtney has Paris runway modeling experience, she's nervous but very excited. Can you just imagine how many stars she'll be seeing face to face tonight!

I told Melanie it's no wonder her daughter was picked because she's tall, slender, and beautiful. Melanie said yes, but so was everyone else that auditioned! I'm so proud of our local, hometown girl and will be watching and rooting for her tonight. Not everyone can put something like this on their resume!

I can't wait to see Melanie at work on Tuesday. I'm hoping Courtney will have some juicy, star-studded stories to share!

By the way, Courtney will be the one wearing the yellow dress.

We don't watch it, for the same reasons you didn't although we loved Julie and Julia, and Blindside too.
How exciting for your friends daughter!

How fun...I have a friend who is helping people out of limos today...somehow her sister had some connection that got them the 'job'.

We just saw Crazy Heart yesterday and we both liked it. I've seen more of the movies than normal this year.

It seems like over the past few years that more and more of the nominees and definitly the winners are movies we have not seen and are not typically movies we would like? When we occasionally get out to the movie, we typically pick a romanic comedy (those never win) or my husband picks a heavily action packed movie (again, don't usually win). And honestly this year we just haven't seen that many movies? I like to look at pictures of their dresses in People next week :o)

I, like you, used to watch faithfully every year since, normally, I saw almost every movie that came out. This year, I did watch Barbara Walter's last show and really enjoyed it. The memories were amazing.

I am sort of half-watching right now. I like the red carpet because I love to see what the women are wearing. I'm also watching this year because Steve Martin has always been one of my favorites AND I LOVED Julie & Julia. That's about the only movie I've seen of all the nominees!

Congratulations to Courtney on being one of the beautiful escorts. What an exciting thing to get to do!

I didn't watch for the very same reasons you haven't...I just don't go to the movies. I did see Julie and Julia and will be curious to see if it won any awards. Give us the goods on Courtney tomorrow!!

I haven't watched but if I did it would just be to see the awesome clothes. I'm more interested in the red carpet I guess.

Well now I wish I could have watched it. My husband was home and he's not into the award shows. I love to watch them. My favorite is the daytime emmy's. Sorry that I didn't get to see her but I'll bet it was very exciting for her!

I stayed up and watched the whole thing.

I loved The Blind Side and am so glad Sandra Bullock won best actress.

I wish I would have read this post earlier & I would have been looking for Courtney. That's really neat.

You will share the juicy stories with us...won't you? :)
