Saturday we started the day off great with our first ever meal here...
I was so excited. I've read about the good food and the cute little store at Cracker Barrel so I was anxious to experience it for myself. It did not disappoint. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, and biscuits. I don't think I've ever had a better biscuit, anywhere! It was melt in your mouth delicious! I enjoyed the store too and bought a few cute gifts. I bet they have fun, unique items during the holidays!
Courtney is a nanny a few days a week for a professor at ASU and she and her husband invited us over for brunch on Sunday, and again, the food was great. Courtney has told us so much about them that I couldn't wait to finally meet them. They were absolutely darling and such warm, hospitable hosts. Being with them warmed my heart because you could tell that they truly love my daughter. They could not say enough nice things about her and the kids gravitated to her like a magnet. I made sure to express to them how thankful I am that they are looking out for Courtney and taking such good care of her and they let us know how thankful they are to have her in their lives as well. They said that having Courtney around has been the perfect fit and knew she was the one right off the bat. It's turned out to be a win win situation for everyone and I know Courtney will be in contact with them for the rest of her life. Luckily, they feel like family to me now too!
For dinner last night we went to one of our favorite rib places and the girls talked us into an appetizer that I had never thought of eating before...
Fried pickles! I was a sport and gave them a try but once was enough for me. Not a fan of eating warm pickles. Have you ever tried fried pickles before?
Today we hit the mall and lets just say Courtney and I can do some serious damage when we're together...but hey, it's not like we have the opportunity all the time right! Ann Taylor's Loft and Nordstrom were having great sales so we found some seriously cute stuff at some seriously reasonable prices. Again, a win win situation!
We had dinner tonight at a place the girls suggested, The Big Fat Greek Restaurant, and yes, with an appetizer that I hadn't ever had before...
Flaming cheese and pita bread! It was a first but this I liked!
We've had such an enjoyable, relaxing time and these 2 beautiful, sweet girls have been a pleasure to be around...
Courtney and her close friend Janell. This trip was the first time we were able to meet Janell and guess what, she feels like family now too!
Janell just graduated and is now looking for and applying for different teaching positions. Can you believe that adorable thing wants to teach high school math! I say good for you and God bless you Janell! It won't be easy but she's got spunk. I just know she's gonna be accused of being a student more times than she can count!

I can't believe you've never been to Cracker Barrel before. They are always good!
Fried pickles don't tempt me either. The cheese and pita sounds more up my alley!
Did you have gravy with your biscuits because Cracker Barrel makes wonderful gravy. You have to go back for a dinner and have their fried okra. Which is way better than fried pickles.
I do love fried cheese...isn't it great I can relate so completely to a post about food? : )
Linda,
I can't believe you have never been to a Cracker Barrel!
Yes, I have had a bite of a fried pickle, oldest daughter loves them and we got one at Zaxby's but she said it isn't as good as some restaurant in Nashville, not my favorite either but not bad.
Your daughter looks so much like you. Do you get that alot? And her friend doesn't look like she is old enough to even be in college let alone a graduate. I am sure she wouldn't like hearing that but in about 20 years she'll thank me.
What a great trip! Nothing better than shopping and eating out with daughter!!!!
Oh Cracker Barrell!!!! I love everything I have ever eaten there! ha Esp. chicken and dumplings.....well not to mention the fried chicken....
I have had fried pickle, but they were the slices, like on sandwiches, maybe you would like the thin ones better....
Fried pickle?????? I don't think so.
I don't love pickles on a good day.
So it looks like you had a ton of fun! Way to go.
Your daughter is darling!
Your daughter and her friend are lovely young ladies. Teaching is a real challenge, for sure. But I think math is easier than some subjects--so cut and dried. Glad you had fun in Arizona. And it wasn't too hot either.
Cracker Barrell is great! And I absolutely LOVE fried pickles! Sounds like a great time in AZ!
I LOVE Cracker Barrell. I have never tried Fried Pickles though. Glad you had a great trip.
I prolly need to give Cracker Barrell another try.
My one and only was in Florida where we were sat next to a smoking section and my meal was ruined.
The craft store sounds fun though!
What?!!! That's the first to a Cracker Barrel? I love their bisquits and gravy there. There store is cute and unique with great prices.
Janell reminds me of our Chelsie, so young looking. They'll appreciate it when their our age right?
Glad you're able to get away and spend some time with Courtney.
God bless!
Of course you have a lovely daughter...just like her Mom :)
Cracker barrell does have nice gifts and I like the food.
Haven't tried a fried pickle !!!
Sounds like you are having a great time..
Warmly,
Deb :)
Hey, I'd try anything once, even fried pickles.
Great action picture!
Well I can see who Courtney looks like!
Just a reminder, we need to see Fabio!
What a great trip Linda. And I can see why you will be dieting when you come home! I used to work in a Greek restaurant, we served the same flaming cheese it was delicious, only wish I could remember what it was called. It was long ago and far away! I have never tried the fried pickles but my girls like them.
Time spent with your daughter is a blessing! Love Di ♥
Cracker Barrel breakfast is one of my favorites. I love trips and trying new places to eat. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.
