And I'm nosy...
So here's the question: Have you ever made homemade bread?
In all my years, I've never made bread, or homemade jam either. I'm not a very good homemaker am I!
With all of the wonderful recipes out here in blogland, I think I need to give bread making a try. I tell you what, I'll make it and photograph the whole thing.
I'm not making any promises on the homemade jam!

Hi Linda,
I have tried to make bread with bad results. It looked more like flatbread! My guys loved it though! All it needed was a little butter and they were happy. The jam.........thats something I've always wanted to do.If I make it I'll let you know how it turned out. Good luck with yours! Hugs
When my children still all lived at home I used to make bread everyday. The taste is addicting! I've never tried jam though. I just never wanted to get into canning. Love Di ♥
I have a wonderful cinnamon bread recipe that my family loves. I have a bread machine too which I enjoy but these days I try hard not to indulge too often...there is nothing better than warm homemade bread with butter. Oh my.
I've made jam...I make cranberry jelly at Christmas time and this year I'm going to pick strawberries and make strawberry freezer jam. I haven't done that in years but we all love it and I like to give it away as gifts too.
I've made both. I have a good bread recipe, but I don't make it often. Actually jam and jelly is easier to make than bread.
Yes, jam is definitely easier to make than good bread. I think bread making is a God-given talent that I don't have. I've tried, but...it wasn't pretty. I think you should stick with what you do best and skip the misery. Go to the bakery!
Hi Linda,
When the kids were young, I made bread and canned lots of fruit! I was really into eating much better than today..oops...
I'll try to find the recipe and email it to you! Makes me want to make some!
Have a great weekend! The SUN is SHINING TODAY!!! It's wonderful!
Warmly,
Deb :)
I use to make brown bread and doing canning. Then when I had a run of bread not rising, canned tomato sauce (all of it) going bad, I lost interest. Now I read that many young gals are bringing back the art of bread baking, canning and planting veg. gardens. I'll probably get on the band wagon again.
4 loaves a week sista!
I grind my own wheat and make delicious whole wheat bread. Yumm.
I also make strawberry freezer jam every year cuz we love it.
I'm at work but when I get home I'll post the recipe for the bread.
Seriously you can't fail with this one!
ive never made either...but now youve got me courious!
but i like EASY...its got to be easy
I've made it in the bread machine....pretty good but I'm no expert!!!
I make homemade sourdough bread from a starter every year...and it's so yummy I nearly eat every bite! I haven't had a single loaf turn out bad yet!
As a kid I would help my dad make homemade bread. As an adult, I tried it once. It didn't taste as good as dad's. I had a breadmaker but again, it didn't taste as good as dad's so I rarely used it. These days I just snag a loaf when my dad makes a batch.
I've never made any kind of homemade bread! BUT... my hubby has been making this friendship bread for the last couple of months. He's made so much of it, that we're all about tired of eating it. lol! It's actally REALLY REALLY good though!
Well I don't grind my own wheat but I make a heck of a loaf of Artisian bread...Using the
no-knead recipe even a Monkey could master it...I have to send you my post that I did on it...you can get the recipe on Williams Sonoma's website under...
"Rosemary Lemon No-Knead Bread"....it is so simple and is fabulous!!
Yes, I've made homemade bread and jam. They're both fun to make but they take some time. Nothing like homemade!
Hugs,
Donna
I have, but not for awhile. I have a really yummy bread recipe from a woman who used to sell bread. It's almost sinful to eat it, and so not on my diet. But now you have me wanting some ; )
I like to make freezer jam as well. So yummy and makes a nice little gift for neighbors too.
I have so much trouble with homemade bread!
My sister gave me a recipe that appeared to be SO easy. It failed.
I am blaming it on the yeast. It was very close to the expiration date on the pkg and I used it anyway.
Also, funny you should mention jam....
I only tried once and it was very, very, very runny.
It was super delicous though. My kids loved it and still talk about it. It was plum.
I'm still not sure what I did (or didn't do) but we would just use a spoon instead of a knife and it worked like a charm.
I have some (new) yeast and just may try that recipe again tonight. It has to rise all night and in the morning I will make them into rolls and maybe they'll be ready for Sunday lunch. I'll let you know how they turn out and I'll pass the recipe along.
I've made bread most of my life! It's time consuming but well worth it! Can't wait to see pictures of yours!
BTW, Jam is super easy!
Hope you have a great weekend!
HI!!!!
Good question
Technically NO!!!
But you know that friendship bread stuff???where a friend gives you some dough and then you make or add to it and then you give some to a friend???Well I made that bread, and it was to die for!!!!SO yummy!!!!!SO I guess maybe YES I have
homemade jam???NOPE!!!!
I am NOt a good cook!!!!
hugs,
jamie
I have never made homemade bread. Never even had the interest to. Not when I can go to the Village Baker or Great Harvest and have a fresh loaf any time.
I know, I'm bad huh.....
Maybe one day. Or not.
Like Valerie, I kill the yeast and my bread/rolls do not turn out. I had a bread maker years ago and the bread was yummy. I don't know what happened to it though. I've only made jam with my mom....it's a lot of work.
I love homemade bread and jam/jelly though!
Connie
several years ago, i was given a sourdough bread starter... i made loaves of bread and cinnamon rolls until they were coming out my ears!!! it was yummy, and my house smelled divine, however, after gaining about 10 lbs i ridded myself of the start, ha!

no to bread, but Jill taught me how a few weeks ago.
We decided on Highlands Ranch. We are really excited and it felt like the best fit for us.
Have you guys decided yet what part of town?
When Jill comes to town to visit we will all have to meet for lunch.
