Tucked away in the back of the school, beyond the baseball fields, and uphill a bit, is one of the most beautiful, touching, and well done memorials you will ever see.
I know the 2nd picture is difficult to read as unfortunately many of them are. Hopefully you will be able to double click on the photos to enlarge them. The picture above is of the soothing water feature that is off to your left just as you enter the memorial site.
In the center of the memorial, forming a circle, are the names of each of the 12 students and teacher that were killed that day. A marble memorial for each, with something written about them by their family, engraved in stone. A lasting tribute to each one of these heroes. Again, I'm sorry that you may not be able to read these very well but at least you will be able to see their names clearly.
As you can see in some of the photos, in addition to the individual memorials, there is a large stone back wall with markings on it. Please come back tomorrow and I'll share Part II with you.

Wow that made me cry.
That day has forever been burned in my heart. We had a family that has sence moved to Burley, whos daughter attened that school..the morning of the shootings she woke and told her mother she did not feel well and was not going to go to school that day, though she was a 100% attendance student...she would have been in the middle of that sad event.
Thanks for the pictures.
It is hard to believe it has already been 11 years since Columbine - in some ways (like 911) it feels like it was just a year or two ago.
I didn't know they had erected such a lovely memorial - It looks so beautiful and I am sure helps in the healing a whole lot!
What a beautiful memorial. My boys played there several years ago in a basketball tournament, and not gonna lie - it felt very eerie.
I didn't see the memorial, maybe it wasn't there then, but the school certainly has a hallowed feel to it.
This really put a lump in my throat, Linda. I had no idea what the memorial was like and I think it is a wonderful tribute for those students, the teacher and all that were there that horrific day. Thanks so much for sharing.

This tragedy is so fresh in my mind. Hard to believe 11 years have passed. I, too, did not know about this wonderful memorial. Thanks for sharing.
What an aweful day. I'll never forget where I was and what I was doing and watching all the news about the tradgedy. Wondeful memorial.

I agaree with you, the memorial takes my breath away and I always have tears when I visit it.
My boys have played on those baseball fields that are close to the memorial.

What a beautiful memorial for such a tragic day.
When are you coming back through UT?
That day is still fresh in my mind. It's still unreal.
Beautiful pictures and thoughts.
That is a touching memorial Linda. It is hard for me to believe that it was that long ago as it seems like only yesterday to me. Your pictures were lovely and I was able to read the first memorial stone just fine.
Love Di ♥
