Although I enjoy reading very much, I find that summertime isn't when I'm the most productive with my reading. I read more in the winter months when I can curl up with a blanket or take a nice bubble bath and enjoy a good book, but I was bound and determined to read one particular book this summer, The Help.

I started it while on vacation last week and quickly found that I couldn't put it down. It was captivating from the start and I didn't want it to end. If you're looking for a good book to finish up your summer reading, I highly recommend The Help. You'll love it.

It amazes me that people who are not from the south love this book as much as we do..
It exaggerated somethings so much but it also hit a lot of things right on.
We had a black lady who stayed with us growing up. Her name is Sue Willie and she was like part of our family. I have so many fond memories of her!
The #1 memory is that she started me watching General Hospital when I was a kid.. because Scooby Doo came on at 3:00 right after it went off so I watched General Hospital with her while waiting. I still watch General Hosipital to this day!
I don't remember her having any special "rules" just because she was black. But, this was in the
80's so all of that was mostly over with. We treated her with respect and we loved her dearly.
She is still alive and I talk to her about once a year. I loved her growing up but after I read The Help I really have a respect and love for her!
They are filming the movie about 40 miles from where I live. I can not wait to see it!
This book captured my attention until I finished it!
(I'm from the very North, Pacific Northwest)
Well written and the story line was so... I want to say profound, insighful, deep but those aren't meaningful enough. Well any way it is a must read! Very memoriable!Didn't know there was a movie in the making.
I'm gonna need to look into this one and add it to the stack in my reading basket!
I bought the books months ago and have just been waiting for the right time to gobble it up. I have only heard good things about it!

I did a post on this book last week. I LOVED it with a capital "L"!
My mom brought it over when I was recovering from my surgery. She told me it was about segregation in the south and my first thought was "Oh how boring" so I put the book on a shelf and did not look at it again until 6 weeks later when I ran out of stuff to read and so started it and it was the best book I have read in a long time.
GREAT READ!!
I loved this book, read it last year. Growing up in the South, I could relate to much of it, pretty much ditto what Kacey said.
I won this book on a giveaway a few months ago. It is one of the best books I've ever read, and I've been passing it around since. Everyone agrees!
I loved it too!!!
I read it last month on vacation....LOVED it did not want it to end :)
Kathy :)
YUP....read it. loved it.
I need to spend more time reading too.
I have never been a reader...once in a blue moon I might read a book, but if you tell me it is a keeper...I will go get it.
Have a fantastic week
I loved this book as well. I plan to reread it in a couple years. I miss those women!
Looking forward to more posts about the books you like. We seem to have the same taste.
good stuff here on the blog!
Just wanted to check in and say "Hello!"
I've been a bad blogging friend here lately.
I'm hoping to get back into it. Things have just been a little crazy busy.
Love & {{{hugs}}} from Oklahoma. :)
I loved it too! It was one where I didn't want to put down, but didn't want to read it too fast because I didn't want it to be over. I hope she'll write more books. She is a talented author.
I'm like you too Linda, I read more in the winter. Sounds like a good read. Love Di ♥
I've heard so many good things about this book and want to read it really bad. I checked the library and I would be 462nd in line.
