It's Friday

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: I mentioned a few days ago about suffering terribly from insomnia. Do any of you lay awake at night, counting sheep like I do!?

It's gotten so bad that I was awake at 4:00am yesterday morning, just bidding away on ebay! Thank goodness I was outbid on 99% of the items by mid afternoon!

I realize part of the problem is due to menopause but this is ridiculous! When you don't fall asleep until 4:00am (if you're lucky enough to sleep at all), it sure makes getting up in the morning really really hard! I feel like I'm dragging around most of the time.

#1 item on my to do list today: pick up Melatonin from the drugstore (Melatonin is a natural sleep aid and can be purchased over the counter).

Watch out insomnia, Melatonin here I come!

I finally discovered caffeine any time after noon was my biggest problem with sleep. I now drink water and have been sleeping much better.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Oh Linda, I suffer right along with you. But mine isn't connected to anything I know of. I have always been this way...lol..me and Ebay are great 3 in the morning buddies. I lay down to sleep but my mind won't shut up always reminding me of something I need to do or want to do. Always dreaming and planning, telling me what I need to paint next, how to creat something new...but I'm always to tired to do my plans and dreams. I have always been afraid to take sleep aids cause I had kids in the house for 40 yrs...lol...and was always afraid something would happen and them need me and I'd be drugged out. DH says I'm just nosy and afraid to miss anything. But during out boys teen years he was always asleep when I would be answering the phone if one of them was in need. I'd have to tell him about it the next day cause he slept like a log..still does.
I have used Melatonin when I worked and had to sleep. It works fine. Don't know why I'm still not using it.
Hope it helps you. and you get some rest.
Molly

Why is it that us women seem to suffer with this problem??? Now I am the opposite, I am so tired that I fall asleep but wake up about 4:30 AM and then I can't get back to sleep; my mind is reeling then. I hope that the Melatonin helps you, let us know.

I take a homeopathic sleep aid sometimes called Insomnia by Hylands. I like it because it dissolves under your tongue and you can even take it in the middle of the night if you need to, and it doesn't make you too tired or groggy in the morning. I keep some in my bedside table so I don't even have to get out of bed to take it. It's also helped my boys when they've been nervous/excited for something and couldn't sleep.

I have had this only occasionally, but it's awful when it happens. It usually only happens when I have to work the next day.
We use Melatonin for our residents and it does work for most people.

I hate it when I can't sleep. I have problems falling asleep and then staying asleep. Getting up in the morning is horrible.

I've heard of Melatonin
I KNOW it is awful when you can't fall asleep.
No matter how hard you try to clear your head, it is on a marathon of thought and worry and seems like nothing I can do to slow it down.

Menopause really messes us up. On the nights I actually sleep all night without those battles and having to go pee several times.
...are good nights indeed.

lucky!!! for me though, I don't work anymore, so I can sleep in or grab a little nap,
BUT I try NOT to nap in the day as I want to be TIRED enough at bed time.
and sometimes it still doesn't work

falling asleep has always been hard for me.
That is why I am usually awake at 2am.
I did try melitonine...it gave me TERRIBLE NIGHTMARES! scary, scary.
I finally went to the dr....
I only take them when I have gone several days without any sleep.

I have always had a problem my whole life of staying asleep. I fall asleep just fine, but then wake and lay there freaking out and worrying about every single little thing.
Doc put me on xanax a few years ago and I have never been better! A good night sleep, every single night!
I did try Melatonin, but I had a hangover from it. Splenda Daddy loves it !

Good luck!

I have never been able to just fall asleep, like my husband who's asleep before his head hits the pillow practically. But I have noticed it's taking a little longer and I just attributed it to pre-menopause from what I've read. I'll have to check into the Melatonin. Let me know how it works for you.
God bless you with quick sleep tonight!

Hi Linda! I didn't mind you stopping by at all!! So glad you did! That IS what this blogging thing is all about anyway right?!;)

I too have had the insomnia problem for some time, and have tried virtually everything!! I prefer going the natural route myself and have tried melatonin along with calcium-Mag with vitamin D. I've also tried Excedrin pm, Benedryl, and was also prescribed Xanax which seems to work best but like I said would prefer the natural route. But then again I also prefer a good nights sleep over being a sleep deprived zombie all day too!!

I enjoyed browsing through your blog and especially reading the
"100 things about you"! We have alot in common! You even got me wondering if I could actually come up with 100 things I could say about my own self! Think I might give it a try!

Please feel free to come by to visit me any ole time!!
Good luck with the melatonin, hope it works for you!!

Hugs, Sherri:)

I forgot to mention how darling I think your little doggie is... all white with those fluffy lil black ears... I've never seen one like that before! Sooo cute!
We lost our sweet border collie not too long ago, and really miss her!
I've been on the lookout for a new puppy... but my hubby's still too heartbroken to even consider it:(
