It's Friday

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: With Thanksgiving just a week away, we're all thinking about our holiday festivities and menu planning. So I ask you, have you ever made a pumpkin pie or will you be making a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving this year? Do you also make your own crust?

I admit I've never made one. I don't even know if I've ever made a pie of any sort. I'm a cake, cupcake, brownie, cookie, candy baking kinda girl.

Plus, I don't care for pumpkin pie...even if it is covered with Cool-Whip.

But now I'm thinking, maybe I should put "make a pie" on my bucket list!

I've never made one from scratch but I have made the Mrs. Smiths frozen pumpkin pie. Nobody in my family is really crazy for pumpkin pie so I don't normally make one. We like the cookies, cakes and brownies better too! Have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!

We always have pumpkin pie. I've made them but now my daughters enjoy making the pies so that's one of the things they do on Thanksgiving Day.

I am not a fan of cool whip. I must have real whipped cream. I buy it in a carton and whip it with a little vanilla and sugar. I could almost skip the pie and just have the cream : )

I love pie and it wouldn't feel like Thanksgiving without at least one pie.

Ok - I am going to admit that I have never made a pumpkin pie...although they are my favorite pies for Thanksgiving. I have baked the frozen kind but my Mom makes the best pumpkin pie ever. She always bakes me one special to take home!

I LOVE pumpkin pie! I used to ask for it on my birthday instead of a cake. LOL! In the beginning, I made my own crusts... as I have gotten older, I go for the refrigerated ones you put in your own pie pan. I have always preferred a pie over a cake. But, I would never turn a cake down!!

Linda you and I are kindred spirits when it comes to baking, I have never made a pumpkin pie and I am not sure if we'll have one. Everyone's taste is different at my house and I might just buy a slice of different ones to serve each palate. I tried once or twice to make an apple pie from scratch and each time my bottom crust was soggy. Now my oldest daughter can make a delicious apple pie, so I'll just let her be the pie maker and I'll do the other baking.

I love baking pies, and yes, I have made a pumpkin pie. My favorites are fruit pies. I don't make my own crust because Pillsbury does it better :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I've made lots of pies because Bob loves them. Like you - I prefer cakes and brownies though. I do make pumpkin pie - it's the easiest pie to make! I used to make my own crusts but now use Pillsbury because Bob can't even tell the difference!

HI LINDA!!
I have missed some of your friday questions and I love them!!!
YES!!I LOVE TO MAKE the PUMPKIN PIES!!I would not feel in the Thanksgiving mood if I did not make the pies, even If I do not need to make them for a dinner at some one else's house I always MAKE them, I could eat them for breakfast every day!!
NO, I buy frozen Crusts( I cheat a little) but the rest is HOME MADE!!
My oven after I make them is always a mess, it is difficult to get them from counter top to oven without spilling, unless I made them shallow!!
Have a great day, I think I may try a pumpkin cheesecake this year too!!
have a great day
HUGS 2 U,
Jamie

Nope...never made one and I'm not going to start now! No one in our family will eat them. I, too, much prefer cakes and brownies, but I do love a good apple pie!

I've always bought mine but I am determined to learn to bake. Not a good time at all as I am trying so hard to lose weight...but I want to MASTER this!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Linda!

Oh Linda,
Making pumpkin pies or pies in general are so easy.
I have a super easy pie crust recipe.
and if you do not want to "make" your own pumkin filling or have to worry about buying the spices needed you can buy the Libby's Pumpin pie filling with spices already added. you just add the eggs and the canned milk...and buy the Pillsbery Pie crusts...I sometimes use the store brand type if I am making Chicken Pot pie or am in a really BIG hurry.
For Thanksgiving I usually have at least 6 pumpkin pies along with a pecan, apple and several cream pies.
I enjoy making them.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I have and I have. I love Pumpkin Pie.

I "get" to work on Thanksgiving this year. In fact, my only day off is Friday..........so..............the family will all be here on Friday and somehow I'm gonna pull off a Thanksgiving meal and then work Saturday and Sunday. I'm tired already.

Definitely put the pie on your bucket list........for another year.

Hi Linda,
First off, I must say I miss seeing your post lately.
I too have never baked a pie, but I want to do so in the near future.
I have a pie crust recipe that a friend gave me for Julia Child's pie crust. She tells me that it's phenom that everyone raves about it.
So this gives me incentive to try to make one too.

Hope your well.

I have made pumpkin pie but prefer sweet potato instead.
Usually I just make pecan pie...everyone likes them.
I use to make my own crust (thought they were the only good ones) BUT pillsbury in the biscuit section are very good....and oh so easy!!!!

I make lots of different kinds of pies for all the holidays and I make my own crust too. It is not hard at all - you should go for it!
I am not a pumpkin pie fan but usually make 2 for all of those in my house who are.
This year I'll also be making 2 pecan pies (my favorite), apple cranberry and possibly a cherry.

No diet going on here - ha ha!

I make a dessert that we call Pumpkin Dessert. Better than bumpkin pie, but that is as close to baking/cooking as I get for the holiday.
Golden Corral gets my business!

I did make pies. But this year was our first gluten free and pie crusts were the one thing I really worried about. I found a great gluten free mix and the crusts turned out great. Maybe even better than ever before.
