Words to Live By...

I saw a quote the other day by John Ortberg that I really liked. He said "Peace doesn't come from finding a lake with no storms. It comes from having Jesus in the boat."

It's such a comfort to know that we don't have to weather the storms of life alone. Jesus is more than happy to do the navigating...and even asks that we let Him!

In Hollywood News...

I read yesterday that Kelsey Grammer took yet another bride. She is Mrs. Grammer #4 by the way.

This 29 year old bride has got to be one very naive girl. They say that love is blind but I wonder if she knows what hit her.

** Does she really think that her love for him will be enough to make this marriage last? He's struck out 3 times before so his track record speaks volumes to me!

** Does she not rationalize that someone who has been married 4 times just might have a little problem with commitment, honesty, loyalty, and fidelity!

** Does she not feel guilty about being involved in the break up of a marriage and the fact that 2 young children were involved?

I'm feeling kinda sorry for this bride though...

** It's unfortunate that she's allowed herself to settle for less. After all, would you want to be #4 to anyone?

** It's unfortunate that the glitter and limelight may have lured her in like so many before her, but then again, is she what many would label as a "Gold digger?"

** It will be unfortunate when her not-so-handsome Hollywood husband finishes with this marriage and moves onto the next, but hey, maybe I've got it all wrong. Maybe this is a marriage made in heaven...

I hope so for her!

(In all honesty, I really could care less about any Hollywood news. It's all so far from my everyday reality, and that's just the way I like it!)

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: Do you have a particular TV show that you like to watch regularly? American Idol, The Office, Glee, or those CSI type shows?

Would you believe I've never watched American Idol, The Office, or Glee. Well, that's sort of a lie. I watched Glee for the first time ever after the Superbowl game this year and then I watched American Idol for the first time this week.

I've been hanging out at our friend Lynn's restaurant more lately and they have 2 big screen TVs there. Let me just tell you, her customer's like American Idol!

Maybe I'll start watching it now that Simon is gone. I could never watch it because I can't watch people be mean to other people. Watching Simon would have been pure torture for me.

One of my favorite TV shows of all time was Everybody Loves Raymond! Now that was entertainment!

I'll be checking this out for entertainment today. It's always fun making new blogging buddies (and especially when they're old(er) like me!)

Thrifty Thursday

It's been awhile since I've joined in with Leigh at Tales from Bloggeritaville for her Thrifty Thursday party so I thought today I'd join in and show you something I picked up at the GW after Christmas. I'm also joining in with a few other linky parties I've recently discovered. If you'd like to participate also, the links are listed below.

Since I started selling on eBay back in November, my thrifting has been mainly for that purpose. One of my personal goals this year has been to declutter so I haven't picked up things for myself, in fact, I've been doing the opposite by selling off things and donating on a regular basis.

After the new year though, my Goodwill got bombarded with donations (as I'm sure they do every year) and they had things marked down low, very low! I spied this little dish and immediately thought eBay but since then, I've changed my mind. I'm keeping this pretty little jewel for myself! This delicate French dish is labeled "Piluvuyt Francs" and cost me a whopping .25 cents! Yes, .25 cents!

For me, that's the thrill in thrifting. You just never know what you'll find out there!

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: With the break in weather we've had this week, did you experienced any "spring fever" madness?

I.sure.did!

I got more accomplished this week than I have in the last month and it felt great! Yesterday I cleaned out our walk-in pantry from top to bottom. I wiped down every shelf, rearranged, purged, and decluttered. It took hours but I think I just might be getting my mojo back!

I'm very aware that the weather plays a big part in my energy level. If the weather is cloudy and cold, I'm more than happy to stay inside and hibernate. When the weather is nice outside, I can be Miss Productivity!

I even voluntered to work today!

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: What is your favorite type of salad dressing?

I'm a hugh salad eater and love any kind of salad dressing that involves balsamic vinegar. I also like the Thousand Island dressing at Marie Callendar's. It's creamy and not too tart like some Thousand Island dressings can be. One of my favorites though is the sesame dressing that is so delicious on a nice refreshing Chinese Chicken salad! Do I hear an Amen!?!

I finally got to eat at a Cafe Rio this past summer. Cafe Rio cilantro salad dressing...To.Die.For!

It's Game Day...

And what a difference a year makes! Game day last year was rainy and depressing. This year the sun is out and we're spending it with fun, close friends.

I've mentioned before that our friend Lynn owns a restaurant here in town. It's a casual place and is always the perfect backdrop for a party. Although we do get together at each others homes too, having the restaurant to meet up at is easy and is never a burden on anyone (maybe I shouldn't speak for Lynn though huh!)

Game day at Lynn's will be perfect. She has a big screen TV in the restaurant, an ice and soda machine (for my Pepsi loving self), lots of seating, and plenty of friends will be stopping by. I'm sure it will be lots of fun.

I'm bring 7 layer dip and chips and will be rooting for the Packers since my cousin is a Wisconsin grad. I'm not a big football fan so it doesn't matter to me who wins or loses. For me, SUPERBOWL IS ALL ABOUT THE FOOD!

Have a GREAT day!
