Ahhh, A Good Book And A Bath

I finished reading a really good book last night. While I do love to read anytime, I tend to read more in the winter months. When the cold weather sets in, nothing is better to me than relaxing in a hot tub with a good book. I started a new book Thursday night and finished it last night, in the tub! I love bubble baths anyways but since braking my ankle Thanksgiving weekend, I've gotten in the habit of taking baths. I'd say my ankle is 90% healed and I could stand in the shower easily but I still take a bath. Besides it being relaxing, I find my foot feels better after a good soak. Kinda like my own hydrotherapy, but with or without a broken ankle, many nights I do reward myself with a nice long bubble bath after a long day.

Ok, now that I just read what I wrote, I know what you're thinking...TOO MUCH INFORMATION! I should just tell you about the book!

My daughter asked me to pick up a book for her from Costco when she was home on Christmas break, a book called "Have A Little Faith" by Mitch Albom. She started reading it when she was home but accidentally left it here when she went back to school. I saw it in her bathroom (she reads in the tub too!) so I picked it up and started reading it. It was a quick read and I found it to be uplifting and inspiring. It's a true story, Mitch's story, about being asked by his Rabbi to write and give the eulogy at the Rabbi's funeral when he dies. The author, who incidentally had pretty much turned away from religion, can't figure out why the Rabbi asks this of him. Why him?

It's a book about religion, relationships, faith, and hope. I think you'll enjoy it. By the way, this book is by the same author who wrote "Tuesdays with Morrie" a few years ago. I think that will be my next read.

Benefits Of Blogging...

The one thing that I've enjoyed most about blogging is the relationships that have developed over the last year and a half. Although I had hoped for friendships to be made, I never dreamed I'd become close friends with other bloggers like I have. I have blogging friends that feel like family and friendships that I know will last forever!

For me, another benefit from blogging has been learning about other religions. For example, I have met and become close friends with many wonderful blogging women who are Mormon. Honestly, I didn't know much about the Mormon faith and what I did know was incorrect. Through blogging, I have been educated. I now have a new found respect and understanding of the Mormon faith, and I have a great respect for my Mormon women friends. Ladies, I so admire the devotion to faith, family, and service that you have. You inspire me daily!

If I've learned anything, I've learned of the great reverence for the temple, the love of the prophets, and especially the love of President Gordon B. Hinckley. So now knowing all of this, when I saw a VHS tape at a thrift store recently, I knew I had to buy it. The VHS is in it's original wrapper and has never been opened. The tape is called "An Evening of Celebration...with President Gordon B. Hinckley", celebrating his 90th birthday at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. It features the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square as well as other guests.

I picked up this tape with my friends in mind, thinking you may like to add this to your collection. If you're interested, just leave me a comment. I'd love to pass it on to someone who would enjoy having it.

When I'm out and about and I see something special, I'm always thinking "oh, my blogging friend_______ would love that" or "that would look great in _______ house!" I feel such a connection with many of you. It's a beautiful thing, the closeness and friendships that women develop. The only thing that would make it perfect were if we were all neighbors. Now wouldn't that be awesome!
