Saturday Social Question:
Are you a procrastinator?

My initial gut feeling was to answer YES to this question...but then I reconsidered. I feel like I procrastinate but the truth is I just have a little more time on my hands than I used to. Now that my kids are older, my life isn't going 90 mph anymore. Of course, I have obligations and certain things need to be done in a timely manner, but otherwise, things get done when they get done...and I generally get alot done.

I am a list maker from way back and I rely on them even more these days...because my memory is shot. I'm just lucky when I don't misplace my list!

BTW...hubby says he doesn't think I'm a procrastinator either!

I remember Mrs. Lawrence's typing class in high school like it was yesterday. It was a favorite class of mine...and boy has that class paid off over the years.

My fingers must be getting a little rusty though...I used to be able to type about 85 wpm.

This is a picture I just took from our site at the RV park. The Columbia River Gorge is just beyond us with Hood River, Oregon across the gorge. It's beautiful to say the least.

We're headed towards the Oregon Coast tomorrow. More pictures to follow...

Update From the Road

Yes, we're still on our road trip and surprisingly enough, hubby and I have gotten along just fine even though we've been sleeping in cramped quarters for the last 3 days. Could you sleep in this A-frame trailer?


Me neither. I could NEVER handle this small space...with or without snoring hubby along. We're sleeping and traveling in the quarters just behind it!!

The road trip has been great so far. I'm loving the "no schedule" lifestyle and I'm sure I could get used to it really easily. As I mentioned in my last post, we are looking at a few businesses for sale in Oregon and Washington. Right now we're staying at an RV park that is for sale in White Salmon, WA, located right on the Columbia River Gorge. The view is beautiful and I could live here...the trick will be getting hubby to leave CA. Hubby doesn't move easily (and truth be told, neither do I). We've only lived in 3 homes in the last 27 years. This will be quite an ordeal for us to say the least. But I'm ready for a change, ready for the challenge...more ready than hubby.

We have 3 other RV parks we will be stopping at on the way home that are also for sale. I'm already liking this one but realize you can't buy a business just on looks alone. I know this will be a long, tedious process but hopefully the outcome will get us a new business and a new adventure for us to enjoy together.

Road Trip and Good Mail

Hubby and I left today in the motorhome for a road trip to Oregon and Washington. Our son stayed home because of school so he'll keep watch over things at home.

We're headed to Oregon/Washington to look at a couple of businesses for sale. Hubby semi-retired about 3 weeks ago so we are looking at other options. Hopefully I'll be able to keep you posted with pictures and updates. So far so good, this RV park has free WI-FI!

Good Mail Goodness - My friend Natasha sent me these goodies in the picture below. I love all things paper so this good mail was perfect for me...note cards and post-its! Thank you Natasha!


I received these nice cards from Amber, Jennifer, Jill, Natasha, and Andrea...thanking me for some good mail that I sent their way.


Now wish me luck...I'm basically sleeping in a tin can with a man that snores like no other...oh yes, thank you Lord, I did bring my ear plugs after all!

Little Less Sickness...

Just a quick note to thank you for your sweet words of concern about my being sick and the state of my bedside table.

Antibiotics certainly do a body good...and day by day, I'm feeling better. Now if I could just get rid of this very annoying cough I'd be back in business.

My co-workers are still reeling from the shock that I called in sick on Thursday. In the five years I've been at my job, I've NEVER called in sick or even been late...not once. Yes, ok, ok, I do have a tendency to follow rules a bit. I never even ditched school on senior ditch day! Didn't want to ruin that perfect attendance either! I don't know what to tell ya except that it drives my family nuts sometimes...and I don't have a clue as to why!?!

Sickness...

Yep...I've been a little under the weather for the last 2 days. This is what the table next to my bed has looked like since yesterday.


It started with a cough on Tuesday (the kind of cough that makes you feel like your chest is on fire because it burns so bad) and progressed to a sore throat, body aches, headache, fever, and chills. Today I went to the urgent care, then to the pharmacy for some antibiotic relief. I'm sure things will be much better tomorrow. It'll have to be better because I've got to work tomorrow!

Sidenote: Good thing we have insurance. The pharmacist told my husband that each of my five little pills would have cost $35.00...yes EACH, if we had not had insurance coverage. Lucky for us we have good insurance. My heart goes out to those who for whatever reason do not have insurance. Our healthcare system needs a whole lota work...and I can say it because I work in it!!

No other place on earth feels as comfy, pleasing, or secure than my home and family does to me.

A Campin' We Will Go

We belong to a "camping club" that meets once a month at various locations throughout the southern California area. We tease that it's a camping club but we're really not camping...because you see, not one of us sleeps in a tent! We all have RVs, travel trailers, or 5th wheels that provide us with all of the amenities of home. Now that's my kind of camping!

Each month, hubby and I cannot wait for our little "campout." We can't wait to see our great friends, eat, laugh (alot), eat, sit by the campfire, eat, play games, walk the dogs, and did I mention eat!?!

Our monthly campouts consist of anywhere from 25 to 40 families, with campers ranging in age from 8 to 80...so there's a little something for everybody. Together, we have endured the severe cold, wind, rain, beautiful weather, horrid heat...yet...each month we count the days until we can all meet again for yes, more "camping!"

This picture was taken this morning. We're doing what we do best...eating!

Good Mail Goodness!

Recently, I have been the recipient of some "good mail" from new friends that I have made since joining the blogging world. I like to think of this good mail as "good mail goodness"...because that's really what it is...GOODNESS. Here's what I've been lucky enough to receive...


Jennifer sent me the most adorable personalized note cards. I love them. I also want to say that Jennifer's good mail was the first good mail I have received from a blogging friend. You got it all started Jennifer. Thank you! The wonderful cookies were given to me by a co-worker as a thank you for a recent birthday gift given to her.


Amber sent me a very cute magnet from Texas and treats from the Texas Hill Country. She sent a bag of pecans which are chocolate covered (milk and dark chocolate) and toffee covered. These things are fabulous. Thank you Amber for your goodness and the nice note too.

And last but not least, I found this package waiting for me last night when I got home. Andie sent me a super fun package full of these "green" treats (great note cards and matching green pen, gum, candy, clover shaped stick-ons, and tissue). What a cute and clever gift...thank you Andie!


It really is a treat to find good mail waiting for you! Thank you Jennifer, Amber, and Andie for mine.

SPT Challenge - Welcome Home

Lelly's challenge: If I came to visit you next week, how would I know which doorbell to ring? Do you have a formal entrance? Should I come to the front door? Or do you prefer your guests to come around back? (Would you be surprised if I came through your garage?)

If you drove up to my house, you would be greeted by a long side walk leading you up to the front door. This is the door that most (but not all) of our guests use and the only doorbell we have is found by this door...


For the last 10 years or so, these 2 planters have held the prettiest little trees, the kind that have 2 round shaped balls on them...well, lets just say we had a really cold winter. Wouldn't you know it, now I can't find any trees that I like to replace them with.

Our front doors are fairly new. We painted them black and I just love the look. Our old doors were almost all glass...I can't tell you how many times I ran past the doors, pretty much naked, going to the laundry room to look for clean underwear, hoping that no one would be standing outside at my front door. Needless to say, when we got new doors, we went with SOLID doors this time.

If you were to make your way around back, you would have to go through these...


And it would lead you to this back door. Let me just tell you...if I saw you standing at this door, it might just give me a heart attack right then and there. Here in California, we have gates on all sides...so if you showed up at this door, your pretty much trespassing.


Ah, yes the garage door. We use the door from the garage to go in and out of the house (about a hundred times a day). I can't tell you how many times I've yelled out "don't slam the door" because...it's a revolving door at this house!

Spring has Sprung...and I'm Lovin' It!

At the risk of sounding too bragadocious, let me tell you about my beautiful California spring-like day...because some of my favorite things took place today!

I wore shorts
I wore sandles
It was about 75 degrees
I went to the nursery and bought some fresh new plants and flowers
I planted said fresh new plants and flowers
I washed windows
Hubby washed both cars
I decorated a bit for Easter



I hosed down the back patio which I love to do. There is just something so pleasurable about watching dirt roll away (am I the only one who thinks like this?)

Where did the week go?

Tomorrow is Saturday...WOW!

I work 3-12 hour days a week and this week I worked all 3 of them in a row. It may not seem like a big deal but it really is. It's grueling. I'm too old for it anymore and I'm tired...very very tired...and I'm tired of being tired.

But, I'm one of the few people in the world who loves their profession and for the last 5 years I have LOVED my job. And if I do say so myself, I'm darn good at it!
I have loved my co-workers, our doctors, our patients, everything, until now.

Our doctors are thinking about retirement soon and wanting to slow it down a bit...so at the end of last year they did the unthinkable...they sold their business (and us) to a BIG company. Lots of changes have taken place since the acquisition but none of them seem to benefit us. Lots has been taken away but nothing has been given in its place. Just added responsibility.

It may be time for me to say good-by...yet I get so emotional just thinking about leaving my other family. I kinda feel like I would be abandoning them.

In the meantime, as of April, I will change to part-time. I will be working 2 days a week, not 3, and will continue to be in charge of my unit. Slowly, I'm trying to ease away...but taking baby steps!

Spring
