What Was I Thinking...Update

It was beautiful outside today and I really enjoyed working on the flowerbeds..."what was I thinking" didn't even enter my mind, not once! I'm almost done with one side of the yard, only a small area to finish. I would have completely finished this one side today but I ran out of flowers. I had made the trip to Home Depot once already today and didn't want to go back. I'll finish it up on Friday along with the other side of the yard.

You may want to click on the picture to enlarge it to really see the flowers. If they look a little droopy, it's probably because I had just given them a good watering.

See, I've only got that little area over there on the left to finish up.

I can't tell you how many times I've spent hours and hours planting flowers only to wake up the next morning to find out that they've been eaten by the snails. And I mean ALL of the flowers eaten up, gone, finished! So now, I make sure I have this on hand...

Also, yesterday I took about an hour and trimmed back some of my rose bushes. They had gone wild with their blooms and I had rose pedals everywhere. I planted these 4 rose bushes/trees over 10 years ago and they're still going strong.

This is some of what I ended up with after my trimming...aren't they gorgeous!

Keeping up this yard is a big job indeed, but it's always been a labor of love for me!

Linda, come over anytime for a little yard help here. You look like a pro. Just beautiful. I love your home too. It looks like a really nice neighborhood. Have another fun day.
That is one thing we do not have to much of is snails. Glad about that it sounds like.

Every thing DOES look beautiful, indeed.

Your snail killer will be our little secret.... Ian and Hannah collect them during the summer and save them in my canning jars.... we've had some live for MONTHS.

I could just lie on your grass & take in all the different flower smells... I just love seeing your blog because it's always so pretty.. You have the most gorgeous home ever!!
I just planted 2 rose bushes, do you put any type of rose food on them? And our problem here isn't snails, which my kids would LOVE to have that problem. But on one rose bush there are little black bugs... What do I do to get rid of them without killing it? Any suggestions? Our Home Depot people don't seem to know!

Linda - it looks beautiful!!! If my garden looked that good I might actually do something too. The roses are wonderful!! I have 4 standard white/pink rose bushes along my front windows, you just reminded me that I heard on the TV last night as we are going into Winter that now is the time to prune and fertilise them - must do that, I cant remember the last time I actually looked at them, they could all be dead for all I know - must put that on the "to do" list for the weekend. After I have my nails done of course!!! Its Friday in melbourne, so I will say - have a wonderful weekend.
Mandi......xx

Beautiful! You, and I are on the same wave length. I was just out working on our rose bushes night before last. I am going to finish up tonight. This really is a great time of the year. Happy Friday! :)
