Rested and Rejuvenated

As much as I love weekends, I was glad to see this last week come to a close. These last 2 weeks have been the pits. I'm glad to report however that by the time Sunday afternoon rolled around, I was rested, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle a new week. Good friends, good food, and good conversation will do that for you.

Jake and I headed out for the camping club weekend on Friday. Howard and I, along with another couple, were the hosts of the event this time around. I have to tell you that the "welcome bags" were a complete hit and such a surprise for everyone. I included 2 bottles of water, a fall dish towel, a candle, cookies, and candy in each bag. All four of us went to each RV and handed them out together. It's always so enjoyable to see how little acts of kindness impact others...they were all just thrilled with their little gift bags!

We had over 80 people attend the potluck dinner on Saturday night and boy was the food yummy. Sometimes at these things people are kinda stingy with their food contributions but not this time. We had 5 turkeys, 3 hams, stuffing, potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, salads, vegetables, rolls, and pumpkin pies and desserts galore. If anyone went away hungry it was through no one's fault but their own. It was quite the feast.

I was a little worried about how all of my table decorating would turn out but everything looked very nice and festive and it sure got me in the Thanksgiving mood. Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday and for me it conjurs up thoughts of family, the craft fair, lots of food, movie watching, long walks, laughter, game playing, fire building, brisk weather, great breakfasts, and just plain ol' fun. I can't wait for Thanksgiving weekend!

We'll be driving up north to Grass Valley for Thanksgiving, which is an hour outside of Sacramento. My sister and her husband have a vacation home there and we love joining them for Thanksgiving when we can. What are your Thanksgiving plans? Are you starting to get excited!?!

(Jake is doing well and I can see his old self emerging with each day. Even though he has to lay still in a crate all day, he's such a trooper. Truthfully, he's a happy boy as long as he can look at me all day. He just stares at me with those big, beautiful brown eyes of his. Such a love affair this dog and I have!!)

I am so glad to hear all is going well.
Your weekend sounds beyond wonderful.
Thanksgiving...Kirk is working, I am sure Josh will go to his girlfriends...
I am thinking I might walk down to the neighbors and hang out at their place, at least I will not be alone.

Awwww, it's so good to see Jake's cute little face and so glad he's home. I know he is much happier now that he's able to see his mamma.

Everything sounds great that you did for the event. I love the gift bags. How sweet & thoughtful of you. And, I LOVE potluck dinners...they're my favorite.

For the past several years we've gone to my sister's house for Thanksgiving. She and her husband live about an hour away from us and about two hours from my other sister. All of our families gather there for lunch. Our families keep growing and she has a really large open area and it works perfectly. They live outside of town (we say "in the country" here in OK) and the kids love playing outside.

I have so much to be thankful for and all of the blogging friends I've "met" this past year rank high on my list of things I'm thankful for.

God bless you, Linda!

I'm so glad things are looking up for you, and that you got some much-needed rest! Isn't it amazing the fortitude that our furry little family members have? He is a strong little guy, and will only continue to improve daily, especially with the love that he's sure to feel!

You are an amazing, hospitable, nurturing person....I want you to live here in north Texas by me! There are a few homes for sale in my neighborhood.....

glad you had a relaxing weekend! and jake is doing well.
i worked all weekend (thrus-sunday) and we were busy as h*ll! it sucked! but time sure did fly! matt and i (and all his sis/bro/kids/mom and dad) are going to arkansas for thanksgiving. we always go to his bro/sisnlaw for thanksgiving...and this year is no different except we all will be in hotels. the house they are staying in since henry has been in the hospital (3 hours from their home) is too small to hold all of us. but we all will be together...and maybe get to visit little henry! fun times.

There is another Jan in here. Hi Jan.

Linda, that sounded like such a fun time together. The food alone sounds so good. I bet they loved those goodie bags. They were so awesome.

Glad the little Jake is doing better. We had one of our dogs son come and visit us last night. He reminded me of Jake. He is bigger than our Bentley was. They named him Bentley Jr. So it was so special to see him. I just cried when I held him to be honest. Take care and just have a great Thanksgiving.

I'm glad Jake is doing well. That's good news.

Since we moved to this area and have only been here a month, we don't have plans yet for Thanksgiving, but I'm sure we will.

Hi Linda, That's great your weekend went so well. Sounds like you and your friends went all out!
Glad Jake is perking up some.
We'll be staying home this TG. Just the 4 of us, and I'm actually looking forward to it. Since we'll be moving to CO, and our oldest daughter will be staying here, we thought it'd be nice to just hang out together this year. Watch the parade, maybe go to a movie later. Just relaxing.
God bless,
Brenda :)

We are going to Ocotillo Wells for some dirt action! We love our quads and especially our Thanksgiving feasts that include turkey taquitos the next night with all the Mexican fixins. I love your idea of a soup swap. Yum.
