So here's the question: Do you open your presents and celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve or do you open your gifts Christmas morning?
My little family has always opened our gifts Christmas morning. The kids go through their stockings together, then we go into the living room and open gifts. It's tradition.
By early afternoon, family has arrived and dinner preparations are underway. After dinner, we all exchange gifts.

I'll be working today and Saturday but by the time I get home from work today, little sis will be home for winter break! Now it will really seem like Christmas with at least one of my kids home!

We always open our gifts on Christmas Eve. This works well because I have to work every other Christmas.
Well, my girls each get to open a special gift on Christmas Eve after dinner. Then, we open all the gifts on Christmas morning! It's a fun, crazy time and I love it!!!
We always open our gifts on Christmas morning after Santa has visited. When I was little, my family had a tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve. On rare occasions, we open one now on Christmas Eve, but not too often.
linda, when i was growing up, everything took place on Christmas day!!! when we first got married, john and i celebrated together on Christmas eve afternoon, went to church, and went to my mom's for supper... then celebrated Christmas with his family Christmas morning and with mine on Christmas afternoon.
then (if you're still with me, tee-hee) when katherine came along, we opened presents from each other on Christmas eve then santa came on Christmas mornning, and we'd hurry out to celebrate with family.
now, we (j, k, and i) open all our family gifts on Christmas eve, and the whole fam damily comes to our house to open, eat, and be merry on Christmas day!!!

We open our gifts on Christmas morning after Santa has dropped off his load. The kidlets get to open one special gift on Christmas Eve. Every Christmas Eve so far it has been jammies - I think I sense a pattern here.
We have a pretty involved Christmas, it is so fun! We start Christmas Eve with all of my side of the family and we host at one of our homes, this year it is at my house. We have food, play games and exchange baskets of homemade goodies. After that, Eric and I and the boys (this year we will have Brittany too!) sit in the living room in front of the fire and the Christmas tree and read the Christmas story out of the Bible and we let the boys open two gifts. It is the same two gifts every year......a book and new PJs. On christmas morning we all open our stockings and then one at a time we open the gifts and then we have a big french toast breakfast. In the afternoon we have a traditional Christmas dinner with Eric's side of the family and gather at one of our homes (this year it is mine!). I love Christmas!

Growing up we always opened Christmas Eve as it was the only time the Grandparents could be with us but once I had my own home and family I switched to Christmas morning.
The girls open one gift on Christmas Eve (of our choosing) such as a game or dvd we can play or watch on that night. Then the rest on Christmas Day.

i am a date person (things have to be celebrated on the exact date, birthdays, anniversarys, etc) so we open christmas morning...but this year, i am working christmas eve night and when i get home christmas morning we are driving 800miles to florida to my family. so we are opening our gifts christmas eve afternoon....so we can get on the road in the morning...i dont really like it, but its the smartest way to do it!

When the kids were little we always left cookies and Pepsi for Santa and they opened their gifts on Christmas morning.
Now that they're grown and my daughter is married, we usually get together on a random day near Christmas day. This year we'll do it on Fri. night the 26th. That's just when all could be together.
There are five of us and we take turns opening our gifts so everyone can see what the other gets and it stretches the time out.
We've had a tradition for years and years where my husband & I cook breakfast on Christmas morning.
My parents come, my husband's mom & last year one of our single associate pastor's from church came.
I'm going to be off work most every day the next two weeks and am SO ready to just be home.

I've tried the last couple of years to get our kids (18 and 22) to open gifts on Christmas Eve but they won't hear of it...I'll try again this year but am not hopeful...

Since we go to husband's side on Christmas Eve and Christmas AM my kids come over and then we go to my Mom and open more gifts...it's almost too much. My adult kids still get a stocking at my house and then 3 gifts(like baby Jesus). I try to keep it simple. I grew up with opening on Christmas morning as glad I can keep that tradition.

We always open on Christmas morning with the kids. Then have a nice big breakfast.
Christmas Eve for my family, we go for a short drive to see the Christmas lights in the neighborhood, we go to Midnight mass or the earlier 9pm mass, I have prepared party finger foods and we have a few drinks and relax just my hubby and I and our 2 adult children with soft Christmas music in the backround, we light the fireplace and enjoy each other's company and slowly open our gifts Christmas Eve.In the morning I make a huge special breakfast , then after that I work on our turkey dinner.Its a wonderful time of year!! Very special to us.

MY family... they HAVE to wait. We do PJ's and a new game on Christmas Eve and eat and play. When they were little I would put wrapping paper over their doors so they couldnt come out without us telling them it was time (the next morn) and then as they got bigger we used a rope and tied thier doors closed, LOL...

We have the same routine as you! We do let the kidlets open one gift on Christmas Eve, before church.
there is christmas the weekend before with my husband's side of the family and there is christmas the weekend after with my side of the family
there is church, christmas eve dinner and 3 presents for Carly (pj's, a book, and a piece to her nativity scene) the night before
then there is santa, brunch and the couple of gifts we give Carly and she gives us at our house on Christmas!
We open one present on Christmas Eve and it is always jammies so that the next morning we look FAHBULOUS in our Christmas pictures.

On Christmas morning you can get into your stocking but that is all until everyone is in the front room.
My kids are always up EARLY! Even as teens!!! I love it!

We open gifts both on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Christmas Eve with family and friends and Christmas day with our little family. I love the stocking gifts the most.
With family we do it on Christmas but I normally let kids open one gift on christmas eve.
We typically celebrate Christmas before or after Christmas with family.
