So here's the question: Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. Do you have big plans? Will you be cooking a delightful Valentine's dinner for your family or do you tackle the crowds at restaurants? Do you buy your sweethearts something special?
This year will be a first for us with no kids home on Valentine's Day to celebrate with. It already has felt different. Not bad, just different.
Courtney's valentine treats were mailed off, along with treats for the college roommates too of course. Yesterday hubby went to see our son who lives 3 hours away so his treats were personally delivered.
Tomorrow hubby and I will probably just whip something up on the bbq for dinner instead of battling with the crowds. Yes, we're able to bbq in February! There are some perks to living in California.

wow, linda, what a romantic valentine's day this could be for you two!!! enjoy it:D
i'm not sure what meester john and i will be doing??? he did say something about going out for dinner; but, i am quite certain he's made no reservations (which means... i might need to get off here and do it myself;)!!!
we usually exchange cards and a small gift... my favorite ever was the year he bought me the book, "I Love You, Ronnie: The Letters of Ronald Reagan to Nancy Reagan". soooooo sweet<3
love,
dani
We rarely venture out on the 14th, but we always go to lunch together during the week of the 14th.
The rest of the night involves HIS present from Victoria's Secret. His favorite gifts always seem to come from there!!!
I'm afraid our Valentine's day will only be spent at home. Nothing fancy. Grace and I will be making heart sugar cookies.
I guess we could still use our grill if we wanted to shovel the snow to get back there to it!
Have fun!
Hi Linda ~ I know what you mean about feeling different with the kids gone. I really don't like that feeling. I gave Cassie her gift last weekend and will do something for Mark tomorrow. I'm sure he'll be working as usual!
I was going to take Glenn out for his birthday (it was the 10th), but just don't have the money, so I guess I'll be bbq'ing too!

Big plans around here. I'm taking it VERY easy on Friday the 13th with high hopes of celebrating tomorrow with the birth of my new baby!
Hi Linda~
With Chris being gone all week, I'm going to cook a pot roast and made homemade Red Velvet cupcakes for dessert. He gets so tired of eating out all the time! It will be nice to have a quiet evening at HOME!
Enjoy your Valentine's Day with your hubby!♥
Hi Linda,
Tonight we are going out for happy hour and that will cover Valentine's day also as I m working at HQ Sat & Sun...
Hubby isn't into any "holiday"...and I Might get a card from him..it's just another day for him. It's okay and every once in a while he has surprised me with a bracelet and a necklace:)
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY...
Warmly,
Deb
Mike and I have an empty nest too, but we have gotten used to it. We never do the same thing from year to year because sometimes he is working on V day. Tomorrow he is off though and I think we might go shopping and out for lunch. I got him a card and his favorite box of candy-millionaires! Happy Valentines Day to you and your husband!
We're having another couple over for dinner and a movie. Hopefully I'll have some photos to share if blogger will straighten out and let me upload them!
Nothing fancy at this house. I hit and miss with V day and hubby doesn't go for the crowds for any holiday. So it is pretty much status quo around here. I use to make a big deal out of it when the girls were home but they are all on their own with significant others to celebrate with.

Since we have little ones at home it seems the holidays are more for them. February we get a little celebration overload. It's David's birthday and my birthday with Valentine's right in the middle. Tomorrow we are starting the day off with a funeral...ugh. Then dropping ALL the kidlets off at an aunt's and then heading off for lunch with just the two of us. That doesn't happen very often. Then tomorrow evening home with all the kidlets making homemade heart-shaped pizza. yum!
I was just finally thinking about what to do tomorrow. We don't have a babysitter & honestly I hate the wait & how packed it is. So I would rather do something easy. But cooking isn't easy nor fun & I am not good at multi-tasking & making a full blown out dinner that is special..
So - Who knows what we will do??
I have a card & candy & candy for the kids. That's about it. We went & got a little something nice for Troy. But with all the cookies I've been eating. I'm not too excited to be seen! :0
Happy Valentines to you my friend!
we havent quite decided what we are doing tomorrow! matt has to work until about 5PM...we would love to go out, but being as he wont get home until 530ish, that puts us out at about 6ish, right in the thick of its saturday night date night, valentines day, long waits to be seated...so we may grill (we grill all winter too, cold or not!) and meet some friends out later to watch a band. then got out to dinner later in the week when its not as crowded! and yes, we always buy small gifts and cards@
Dirk and I plan on going out Sunday night. I don't do well with crowds and always enjoy celebrating a day late to avoid them. We don't do anything overboard for each other. This day is so overrated that it takes all the fun out of it. Enjoy your night with hubby. BBW sounds great to me!
My son has a balloon business and this is his big day. So we will be delivering all day. Sounds like fun? It is. Any time with my kids is the best. m

nope...
I always leave a box of chocolates on my kids pillow for valentines.
With nobody home...it is pretty depressing.
I did send Kira a package with chocolates about a month ago so hopefully she will get this this week, Derek's box was in the mail earlier this week, and I will put a box on Josh's pillow, though I am not sure when or if he will see it.
Kirk is not a holiday person...though we went to dinner last week at The Outback while we were in Twin Falls, and he commented that we could "count it" as a Valentines dinner...
YIPPPEEE.
Your Valentine's Day sounds so romantic. We usually wait until a few days after to go to dinner, so we don't have the crowds. We babysat for a widow. She has two daughters. She was asked to dinner by a wonderful man, who planned to ask her to marry him, on his knee at the restaurant. I have not heard how it went, but I think she said YES!
