Happy Saturday!

Wow, where has the time gone!? I've pretty much been MIA for almost a week now. It's been a crazy few weeks with all of the painting, carpet installation dilemma, spring break, work, and house cleaning.

The carpet saga continues and I'm wondering if it will ever get resolved. Long story short, we picked out a carpet for the whole house but then decided to only use it for the office. It doesn't seam well and thought we'd save ourselves some headaches and just pick out another carpet for the bedrooms and living areas. As it turns out, I love the office carpet but dislike the carpet that has been installed in the living room, dining room, and stairs. We put a stop to the installation in the bedrooms for now and decided to leave the carpet in for a few weeks to see if we can live with it but I already know that it will bug me each and every day. It really is a beautiful carpet and I like the color but it shows every.single.footprint! I don't know how we ended up with this one since the first thing we said to the sales lady was "we want a carpet that won't show every footprint!"

Our only choice now is to continue with what we have picked out or pay for the carpet that has been installed and the labor, pull it out, and start over again. They had already cut the carpet off of the roll for the other rooms so I don't know if we will have to pay for that carpet too. It's just frustrating and now I know why I've put off getting new carpet for such a long time. What a hassle. I'll let you know how it all ends but thought I'd show you some pictures of what we've got installed so far. We were also trying to be daring and go with some color instead of the grayish/off white we've had for the last 10+ years. Both of these carpets coordinate together, the color is called sesame.

The office carpet, which I love...

The carpet in question...

See the footprints. Am I just being too picky?! I'm thinking yes to that last question and that I also over analyze things too much! What do you think of these two carpets? Do you like the colors? Do footprints bother you or can you live with them? I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

Happy Saturday to you too!

Okay, personally I LOVE both carpets that you've picked out. The one for the living and dining area is my favorite. I don't like footprints on my carpet either. However, I don't think...in fact, I wouldn't repay to have it redone. I think it's something that I could and would live with. I wonder if there's anything that can be done with the store directly on possibly giving you some kind of credit or HUGE discount if you decide to redo it though. Replacing carpet is not cheap! Wow! I'm sorry! Keep us posted on how it turns out.

I love the colors but the footprints would bug me. However, I think I would live with it for a while before getting new. What a bummer!

I too obsess about details.
I'm also tired of footprints. Maybe next time I will just go with hardwood floors.

I love the first carpet. Good job and good luck with your decisions.

The office color is nice Linda. I am use to some of my carpet that shows the traffic. Uggg.... But it is so annoying. Never looks done. Ya know. Both are a nice color though :) Good luck.

I don't know, but since you specified to the sales person no footprints maybe you'd have a leg to stand on.
Coming from a Housecleaner's perspective, we have to vacuum our way out the door with that kind of carpet, which is a bummer because invariably we'll have to go back to replace linens, then we have to walk on the very edge and/or hop and skip our way to the linen closet trying not to make any noticeable footprints.

Hope things work out.

The color is nice and I like the office carpet also. I have to admit that many foot prints in the carpet would make me nuts. Maybe I'm picky.

I love the colors.
I wonder if after a week or so more the fibers will relax so that you don't see all the footprints.
Hard call.
I have missed you but figured you were pretty busy with the redo
Take care,

I love both carpets! I'd rather deal with footprints than the rapidly aging carpets that we have and can't afford to replace. I, too, am wondering if after awhile, when the fibers settle down, if the footprints will be less of a problem.

Hummm, I love the color of the carpet, but personally , we have done away with all of the carpet in our house, too much hassle and too much dust even vaccuming everyday. We have 2 bedrooms left and they are coming out this summer. Sorry I can't help. But I do like the office carpet best. Couldn't stand the foot prints, but would have to live with them. Could afford to just pay for this carpet and then buy more. I'd ask about a refund since you did say you didn't want that kind...

I'm on the cusp of being a Virgo, so yeh, the footprints would probably bug me. I just put new carpet in and I chose a leaf pattern for that very reason. Seems like the saleslady should take responsibility. I would probably at least ask. Your new carpet is a lovely color though. Thanks, by the way for stopping by my blog.

I think waiting to see what you think is a good idea. Maybe it is the newness that allows the footprints to be visible. And no, I don't think that is being to picky.

The office carpet was very pretty too.

Hi Linda. Thank you for visiting my blog. I love meeting new friends. Yes Williams Sonoma is the best. The things they offer are not the kinds of things you see in every other catalog and I always get great ideas for decorating my table. Please come back and visit again. Blessings, Loretta

I love both carpets. My favorite one is the office one though. Footprints might make me bonkers...but my carpet is so well worn that is it matted down. We sooo need new carpet. I am praying for hardwoods. Is that bad? With five dogs, carpets are not my friend.

I would take that photo of the footprints back to the carpet store and show it to the sales associate that recommended it. You shouldn't have to pay for that if you are not happy!

I like both carpets, especially the office one. Footprints would bug me too. I agree with the person who said to take a picture of the footprints and plead your case to the store owner. Good luck!

My friend absolutely obsesses about footprints in her carpt and she likes to have the vacume lines show. I USED to. But not any longer, Just not worth the energy. If you want your house lived in, it'll show footprints ---NO footprints means no one likes you Linda and no one wants to come over. CHERISH THOSE FOOTPRINTS!!!

I really like both carpets as well. I completely understand your footprints concern. I have that problem as well. I think it is hard to get around when you select a plush carpet with good padding. You did mention the seaming problem on the first carpet, which can be a nightmare. You know, a simple project can turn out to be such a big deal. Why is that? Also, I don't think you are picky at all.

I like both colors. I understand the footprint thing. But I have to say I don't think I'd pay to have it redone. Is it possibly because it's brand new & once it isn't so stiff & new it won't leave prints?
If it bugs you & you can do it, change it.. It's your house & you have to be happy. Especially if your going to stay a long time. But if you are still planning on moving in a year or so. Can you live with it???
