Metamorphosis Monday

Welcome to Metamorphosis Monday. To participate or to see other Metamorphosis Monday posts, head on over to Susan's. Thank you Susan for being our hostess each week.

We've had a Baker's rack for over 25 years that was handed down to us from my husband's grandmother. It spent 4-5 years in the kitchen of our first house we owned, it moved with us to our second home, it spent some time at my mom's house, and now we've had it on our patio for about 10 years. It's sturdy and very well made, it just needed some updating.

This is how the rack has looked for the last 25 years. We gave it a fresh coat of white paint when we got it 25 years ago. The white paint has held up great even though it's been outside for years.

Two summers ago we finally bought a new patio set and I always thought the Baker's rack would look good painted to match. We've had a few days of nice weather lately so hubby sanded, painted, and bought new glass for the 4 shelves. Here's what the Baker's rack looks like now...

Of course we couldn't match up the paint color exactly, but it's sure close enough. It's amazing what a little bit of paint can do!

Linda,
Isn't it great what a can of spray paint can do for something?! Love this transformation, and especially love it being used outside with your new patio set! Great idea, thanks so much for sharing!

hey linda

nice work, love how you matched that almost totally

actually on my treasure hunting travels I often come across bakers racks, but I never really knew how I would use it, you've inspired me to look out for one, because this would be perfect on my deck as I wouldn't have to worry about how it weathered...nice inspiration thanks

I have a baker's rack that I got as graduation present!! I would not even venture to guess how many coats of paint it has on it--in fact I think it needs another one this year! Your patio looks great!

It looks good. I have a bakers rack that has been sitting in my garage for 3 years, we had it in our other kitchen but it doesn't fit in this one and I don't know how well it would hold up outside. Not sure where I would put it if it were outside but I have thought about it. Hmmm

Linda, That is a beautiful baker's rack, and they are just so timeless and useful! I had one similar to yours that I had used in my daughter's bedroom to hold her doll collection. When she moved away I gave it to her (sigh). She is now using it in a bathroom with towels, etc. So cute! Linda
