The marble game caught my eye so I waited for a good sale to come along so I could buy it. I remember the original price being $50 and I couldn't justify spending $50 on it even though I had been keeping an eye on it for months. I don't know about you, but once I get in my mind that I like something, it's like an obsession with me. I kept going in and checking the price on it and finally it went on sale for $35. To this day I still think it's one of the best $35 I've ever spent. I cannot tell you how many children and teenagers, especially the teenagers, have sat down over the years and played this game, over and over again.
You start out with all of the marbles in place, leaving the center spot free.
One by one, you jump over another marble, removing the marble that you just jumped over, placing the removed marbles in the groove that runs along the outside of the game.
The game didn't come with any instructions but I don't see how you can do any better than having one marble left at the end of the game. I think having only one marble left over is the best you can do. In 10 years of children, teens, and adults taking a shot at this game, which is played solo by the way, this is the best we've been able to do...
So today I gave it a good dusting off, played a quick game, and placed it back where it's sat for the last 10 years...
It's a given, everyone whose been in our house over the last 10 years knows what's on the fireplace, waiting for them to give it another try...the marble game.

Hi Linda,
I've seen those boards but never knew how to play. So simple but sounds like fun. Next time I see a set I'm picking it up. I hope I can find one as pretty as yours. Hugs, Loretta
I have one too! The kids AND adults love it!
Enjoy.
I too miss the Bombay Co. We have a chinese checker game that is in a cherry wood box that sits next to our fireplace. Excellent game for all ages.
Hi Linda ~ I remember Bombay...and I remember that game too! I've seen them other places, but really cheaply made!
Hugz,
Michele
My boys would have so much fun with that. I might have to keep watching for one.
I remember the Bombay Company. What a neat game. It looks great just setting out.
I loved Bombay Company, but it's been awhile since I've found one to shop in! What a fun game to play with family and friends!
That is really very beautiful!
It's nice (when visiting someone) to know there are certain things you can count on...
What a great game! I would love to have one! I would have bought it the first time I saw it,,,,I'm always afraid it will be gone next time/ha I spend too much, right?
That is a neat marble game. I have seen games similar to that but that one is gorgeous!
I loved Bombay Company. My bedroom furniture is from there, along with a few art pieces and nicknaks.
I love your marble puzzle, I wish I had one like that, it's a fun conversation piece!
I've also seen that game, but never had one. I remember the peg game, looked like golf things? That had the same idea.
Also- I am the exact same way about getting something in my head & wanting it.. It's good to know I'm not the only one that does that!
I was just thinking about the Bombay company the other day as they were packing up my house. I have a chest from there that I love-they had some pretty things at reasonable prices. I'm sorry they went out of business too!
Of course I remember the Bombay Co. I loved their furniture. What a fine looking marble game and what a bargain!
What a beautiful set. It reminds of the peg game at Cracker Barrel except it's much nicer looking.
I LOVE Bombay...we have an original James the Butler table...a solid WOOD one sold way before they were made from plastic!
That's a neat game!
Have a great weekend....
Hugs,
Robin

ps. i miss bombay:(
Hi Linda,
We love this game, and my Mom bought it years ago from Bombay Company for my Uncle. Since then she has been looking for one for herself. Now-days we can only find this game in smaller sizes. Do you happen to know the name of the manufacturer that makes your game at home? We would love to find that exact model. From one Bombay lover to another, thank you for your story! We hope to find this game out on the market again. (or if you are interested in selling yours we could take it off your hands!) :)
