It's Friday

Sheesh, it's Friday again already! Seriously, where does the time go!?!

I wanted to post something today but felt that the usual "Friday's Question" wasn't appropriate for today. Today is a solemn day. Today is a day for remembrance, not for silly Friday questions.

Today I was able to go about my life, business as usual. Sadly though, that wasn't the case for thousands of families who lost loved ones on 9/11. I went about my business but all the while my mind was on them. Today I thought about the innocent people who perished on 9/11 and I thought about the families and how their lives have changed.

I will never forget the brutality of it all!

I will never forget the sickness in the pit of my stomach that something like this could (and did) happen in America!

I will never forget the faces of those who were missing. Thousands and thousands of photos pinned up everywhere. Photos posted by frantic, worried loved ones!

I will never forget the images of people running, with dust and soot on their faces, and total fear in their eyes!

I will never forget how many children lost their fathers/mothers, how many husbands/wives lost a spouse, how many parents lost their child, how many brothers/sisters lost a sibling, and the list goes on!

I WILL NEVER FORGET!

My 8 year old was so full of questions about this today. (She was 4 mos. old at the time of 9/11) So hard to explain the brutality of terrorism and why we're at war. At the same time it was an opportunity for me to help her focus on the good that happened that day in the brave Americans who risked and sacrificed their own lives to try and save others. And to impress upon her the importance of servanthood.
Yes, I too will never forget.

Oh Linda, I so clearly remember the faces of family members walking the streets of NYC franticly searching for loved ones with tears in their eyes and it still breaks my heart to think of it 8 yrs. later. My father lost 2 friends in the attack and one of Michaels classmates lost his dad who was a NYC firefighter. Here in NYC they have the ceremony for the victims each year. I don't know if it is broadcast nationwide but they read the names and show a picture of each victim and it takes nearly 4 hours. The amount of time it takes to read all the names makes you stop and think about how many lives were lost and how many families are still grieving. Just a senseless act of evil! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs, Loretta

Linda, you are the best! The totes you sent me are darling! I have already used both of them. I can't thank you enough for lightening up my day. There is something that is leaving Arizona, going to California, at the begining of the week. :) Have a wonderful weekend.

I will never forget either! Watching it on tv....live...it was like a nightmare. It just didn't seem real.

I was in NYC in March of '08 and went to Ground Zero. We went to a building called the Three World Financial Center and it had glass windows where we could look directly to the sight.

It was just so hard to believe what took place there.

We visited St. Paul's Chapel which is across the street.
You can look this chapel up on the internet and get lots of great info. In the first three months after 9-11, more than 3,000 workers passed through the Chapel's gates. They served 2,000 to 3,000 meals to workers each day!
This place (today) is like a small museum of sorts.
Very, very touching! I'm so glad some other tourists told us about this Chapel. I don't think it's very publicized.

I have kept NYC and all of the families & friends who lost loved ones, in my prayers all day yesterday.

Love ya Linda!
Have a good weekend.
Val

I will never forget standing in the breakroom at work, watching the news and when the first tower fell, my knees buckled.....I had to leave the room and go sit at my desk....I have never felt so helpless!
