Again this week I took a large bag to Goodwill for donation...some clothes, books, and miscellaneous household stuff. Good stuff, stuff still in great shape, which got me thinking...
Why not try selling items on eBay instead of donating it 100% of the time!?
Although I've purchased many items on eBay over the years, I've never sold anything personally. Truth be told, I'm scarrrred!
The whole shipping thing has me nervous and having to write descriptions for each item kinda seems like alot of work.
So, for you eBay sellers out there in blogland, is selling on eBay as easy as they say? What is the best way to deal with the shipping aspect?
I really want to give this a try but thought maybe you could give me some pointers and helpful hints before I jump on the eBay selling bandwagon.
Please please, share away...

I say no..
I love ebay! {Not as much as I used to} It's a great place to shop! I still buy all the time on ebay and always look for a deal if I am looking for something special. I buy a ton of stuff on ebay for school too..
I got my start selling my stationery on ebay and formed a large following. I did really well... I really owe the success of my website and online business to ebay. It's where my first customers came from and they still order today.
But, the fees are high and it takes a lot of time. You need to write very good descriptions telling people any little bitty thing that is wrong with whatever you sell..or else they will get it and demand their money back. HA!
But, if you have a few high dollar items- then YES I would say possibly list them on ebay. But, not small items that would only bring you a few dollars .. even less after ebay and paypal take out their fees. Also, don't expect to get anywhere close to what your item is worth. Don't you look or buy items on ebay for a bargain? So, people who bid on your stuff will be looking for a bargin too.
I recently had to buy a new printer and one of my colored ink cartridges for my old printer is sitting on my office floor. It retails for about $400 new- and I have no use for it. So, if I list it on ebay and get $100 then I would be happy so I am planning to put that on ebay soon.
... This turned into a LONG comment!!
I haven't used Ebay but am thinking of selling some Longaberger baskets. I've heard that Craigs list is good for smaller items.
I'm not so great with ebay...buying or selling, but if you want to make a little $$, I say go for it!!

I say no. It will just sit and you'll think "I should really put that on Ebay" and it will continue to sit while you figure out what to do etc. Unless it's worth a lot of money, give it away and let it bless someone else.
I still have Kira's porcelain dolls for fear of Ebay and the fees.
So, I am no help...sorry
I used to sell alot of outgrown kid clothes on ebay, but after writing a detailed description stating every little thing that was wrong the buyer would complain and want their money back. I got tired of the mess. I think ebay was ruined by so many people opening up "shops" instead of being for everyday people selling their stuff.
I have friends that swear by Craigslist, but it makes me nervous. I don't want the face to face connection with strangers.
I love ebay! It's time consuming in the beginning. The best way to determine if you should sell it on ebay is to go to ebay and look for your same item. Are there a lot of this item for sale?? What are they asking for that item? If there are a lot of that item and they are not selling for much...take it to Goodwill. If not, give it a shot and start with an auction with a small starting price and see where it goes. I've sold stuff I would have sold for $20 for lot's more. I've also had stuff that doesn't sell and then I give it away. Yes there are fees but it gets you more than -0-!! BIGGEST thing is to estimate your shipping...you need a scale that weighs things so that you can put in the right weight with the box or envelope you are shipping it in. THe buyer pays for the shipping. I'll email you my number if you want to call me with any questions.
Craigslist is good too but there are a lot of scammers out there right now...and you do have to meet them someplace to exchange the item. I sell heavy stuff like furniture, motorcycles, electronic stuff here and meet at a Starbucks etc.

P.S. I have about 20 items on ebay right now...just stuff from around the house and some of my daughter's items from their move. The thing I thought was worth a couple dollars is up to $15. I started it at 99cents. Who knew???
I never used ebay until a few weeks ago, and that was only to buy stuff. I'm one that perfers to donate in the hopes that it does someone else some good. But I know lot's of people who are supplementing their incomes in these tough times with selling off their unused or unnecessary stuff.
