Another Halloween Comes and Goes...

I seriously love Halloween but every year I'm a little relieved when Halloween night comes to an end. We live in a neighborhood that gets bombarded with trick-or-treaters, yet not a single one of them actually lives in the neighborhood. I don't know where everyone came from last night but it was craazzy busy out there. I thought that since Halloween was on a Sunday night, maybe we'd get less kids and that they'd quit early. Didn't happen, there were people everywhere!

I spent $50 on Halloween candy but for some reason it felt like I bought much less this year. Here is a picture of my set-up, right by the front door, ready and waiting for the massive amounts of kids that would stop by. By the way, we stand outside on our front porch and hand out candy because you'd never make it back to the couch to sit down in between kids!

We also had another HUGH box of chips that didn't make it into the picture. We have a good friend who works for Frito-Lay and he can get chips for next to nothing so we always get a couple of boxes to hand out at Halloween. I made a quick trip to Carl's Jr. to get Howard and I a drink and when I got home, ALL of the chips were gone! It never matters how much I buy, regardless, it's ALL gone within 2 hours! Like I said, it gets craazzy busy in our neighborhood!

Needless to say, I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween when it comes to trick-or-treating! Having hundreds and hundreds of people around, that I don't know, wearing masks, makes me just a little nervous!

Hard to believe! We had no trick or treaters this year, and often get 5 at the most. That's what happens when you live in the country!

Well I'd give anything to have some trick or treaters! I live in the country and we never get any unless someone that knows me makes a special trip to my house!

I love the little trick-or-treaters. when the kids get older I think they should stay home... I would come to your house every year if I knew that you handed out chips, yummy!

I can relate to that, Linda. When we lived in Lancaster, PA we had hundreds of kids, so we just sat on the front steps and handed out candy as they walked by (sometimes running to the store for more candy when we ran out).

Now, we just get a handful. Kinda nice.

We were away this year so no trick or treating. I didn't put out any pumpkins to prevent mischief.

At least you don't end up with tons left over to 'dispose of' : )

I loved our plan this year - we simply turned off the lights, locked the doors and left for the evening. PERFECT!

We only had 2 trick-or-treaters come by last night, so now I'm stuck with tons of my favorite candy! :)

If I knew you gave out chips, I would head to your neighborhood.

Where I am at every church and the city does a "trunk or treat" so we get very few trick or treaters. I don't mind it too much.

Things were pretty slow around here. We did the trunk or treat too. Nothing on Sunday. I was glad about that.
I am always so glad when Halloween is over!

Cute set up you had. That is a lot of candy! Did you dress up?

You are one of the exceptions I think. It seems like everyone I talk to...and when I lived in Utah, it got less and less every year.
we get NO trick or treaters down our country road.

but when I DID hand out candy in Utah, I'd buy just 'so much' and when it was gone, lights out. goodnight.'
all done.

You give out lots of good stuff. I bet they all take note and tell all their friends. :)

My hubby is always deer hunting on Halloween & I'm normally home alone, so I choose not to do it by myself. I love seeing all the kids in their cute little costumes though. I feel like a scrooge, but I don't feel very safe w/out hubby home to help.

Now that we have a little grandson....maybe I'll get to go with him. :))

We didn't have any trick or treaters...maybe because we had our lights off.
