Another Halloween Comes and Goes...

I seriously love Halloween but every year I'm a little relieved when Halloween night comes to an end. We live in a neighborhood that gets bombarded with trick-or-treaters, yet not a single one of them actually lives in the neighborhood. I don't know where everyone came from last night but it was craazzy busy out there. I thought that since Halloween was on a Sunday night, maybe we'd get less kids and that they'd quit early. Didn't happen, there were people everywhere!

I spent $50 on Halloween candy but for some reason it felt like I bought much less this year. Here is a picture of my set-up, right by the front door, ready and waiting for the massive amounts of kids that would stop by. By the way, we stand outside on our front porch and hand out candy because you'd never make it back to the couch to sit down in between kids!

We also had another HUGH box of chips that didn't make it into the picture. We have a good friend who works for Frito-Lay and he can get chips for next to nothing so we always get a couple of boxes to hand out at Halloween. I made a quick trip to Carl's Jr. to get Howard and I a drink and when I got home, ALL of the chips were gone! It never matters how much I buy, regardless, it's ALL gone within 2 hours! Like I said, it gets craazzy busy in our neighborhood!

Needless to say, I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween when it comes to trick-or-treating! Having hundreds and hundreds of people around, that I don't know, wearing masks, makes me just a little nervous!

Candy Corn Love

Last Friday night we had plans to get together for dinner with friends and I knew I wanted to bring them a little Halloween favor to take home with them. Earlier in the week I'd seen some adorable candy corn bowls and was smitten. To me, nothing says Halloween like candy corn!

I wanted to incorporate some edible candy corn into whatever treat I made to go in the cute bowls and ended up making these little goodies. So so good with the salt and sweetness all in the same bite...

I wrapped the bowls up in clear cellophane and added some festive ribbon. Very easy, inexpensive, yet adorable!

Have you ever made these treats? It doesn't get any easier let me tell you! Just spread out your pretzels on a cookie sheet, then place one unwrapped Hershey kiss on top of the pretzel. Place them in the oven for about 4-5 minutes on 170 degree heat. When you take them out of the oven, while still on the cookie sheet, press down a piece of candy corn into the chocolate. I also put the whole cookie sheet in the refrigerator afterwards so that the chocolate would harden back up so that I could package them up. I've done this at Christmas time with red and green M&M's too. So yummy!

Can We Expect Our Goodie Bags!?!

I just got a call from my daughter a few hours ago (she is a sophomore in college at Arizona State)...she's wanting to know if I'm going to be sending her and her roommates "goodie bags" for Halloween.

Yes, they are in college but they.want.their.goodie.bags!

I have been making my kids and their friends little treat bags for each holiday since they were in elementary school. I know I probably enjoy making them more than they enjoy getting them but it's just something fun to do.

Why should this holiday be any different from any of the other holidays except now the goodie bags arrive by mail. Sure kids...I'm on it! Only this time I'll be delivering them in person next week!

Oh and by the way, my daughter tells me that Tim, a longtime friend has inquired about his goodie bag for Halloween. I've been instructed that I can just send his to his dorm at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo where he is a sophomore too! Like I said, I'm on it!

Boo Sign Tutorial

A few of you asked how I made my Boo sign so I thought I'd take a minute and give you a little tutorial. Believe me, it was so simple that it really will only take a minute to tell you how I made it.

Supplies I used:

1 8x10 frame
1 can of flat black spray paint
newspaper
boo sign (Michael's)
1 can spray adhesive

First off, I spray painted an old frame that I had at the house. I gave it 2 coats. I cut out a piece of newspaper the size of the cardboard backing from the frame and with the spray adhesive, glued it to the cardboard.

I also spray painted the Boo sign that I got from Michael's. I paid about $2.00 for it. It originally had a spiral metal handle on it so that it could be hung up but I took my metal clippers and cut it off.

I put spray adhesive on one side of the Boo sign and placed it directly on the newspaper. I then placed the glass to the frame in back of the cardboard for more support. There is no glass in the front of the frame as the Boo lifts up off the page a bit.

That's it. It really couldn't be any easier. I hope these instructions are easy enough to follow, if not, let me know.
