It's Friday

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: Who are you rooting for to win the 2010 World Series? Texas Rangers or the S.F. Giants?

I've been tossed up because I'm a California girl so I should be rooting for the Giants but one of our local hometown boys is pitching for the Rangers. Colby Lewis was born and raised in the city that I live in and we are very proud of his success.

But I think I just made up my mind...GO RANGERS!

I Took The Plunge...

And signed up to be a seller here...

ebay icon Pictures, Images and Photos

I had a hard time setting everything up last night and had to utilize the online chat today, but everything finally got resolved. Ebay wouldn't recognize me as a "seller" and wouldn't let me open a selling account. Thankfully Joe, the online chat guy was able to figure out the problem for me.

This afternoon I set up a little make shift studio, took pictures of some items I want to sell, and away I went! I listed 5 items and now we'll see what happens. I have so much stuff I'd like to list but have to take photos first. I ran out of good daylight and I work tomorrow so I guess Friday will be the day to list more items. It all just takes time.

I'm not at all expecting to make a fortune by doing this, but I'd like to give it a try instead of always donating everything to thrift stores. It took me awhile to complete each listing because 1) I'm new at it and 2) I'm still not sure about all of the shipping info. I think alot of this will be a "learn as you go" type thing.

I'll keep you posted on how this new adventure pans out. Again, if you ebay sellers have any advice for me, I'm all ears!

Candy Corn Love

Last Friday night we had plans to get together for dinner with friends and I knew I wanted to bring them a little Halloween favor to take home with them. Earlier in the week I'd seen some adorable candy corn bowls and was smitten. To me, nothing says Halloween like candy corn!

I wanted to incorporate some edible candy corn into whatever treat I made to go in the cute bowls and ended up making these little goodies. So so good with the salt and sweetness all in the same bite...

I wrapped the bowls up in clear cellophane and added some festive ribbon. Very easy, inexpensive, yet adorable!

Have you ever made these treats? It doesn't get any easier let me tell you! Just spread out your pretzels on a cookie sheet, then place one unwrapped Hershey kiss on top of the pretzel. Place them in the oven for about 4-5 minutes on 170 degree heat. When you take them out of the oven, while still on the cookie sheet, press down a piece of candy corn into the chocolate. I also put the whole cookie sheet in the refrigerator afterwards so that the chocolate would harden back up so that I could package them up. I've done this at Christmas time with red and green M&M's too. So yummy!

Should I or Shouldn't I?

At the start of each new year, I make a goal to declutter, organize, and gain better control over my house. I've been very successful so far this year and have cleaned out file cabinets, drawers, and closets, but I still have alot of work ahead of me. It really is a never ending process!

Again this week I took a large bag to Goodwill for donation...some clothes, books, and miscellaneous household stuff. Good stuff, stuff still in great shape, which got me thinking...

Why not try selling items on eBay instead of donating it 100% of the time!?

Although I've purchased many items on eBay over the years, I've never sold anything personally. Truth be told, I'm scarrrred!

The whole shipping thing has me nervous and having to write descriptions for each item kinda seems like alot of work.

So, for you eBay sellers out there in blogland, is selling on eBay as easy as they say? What is the best way to deal with the shipping aspect?

I really want to give this a try but thought maybe you could give me some pointers and helpful hints before I jump on the eBay selling bandwagon.

Please please, share away...

It's Friday

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: When you were growing up, did you 1) walk to school; 2) take the bus to school; or 3) did your parents bring you to school?

Would you believe I never ever took a bus to school. I only got to experience bus riding on field trips (and actually most of the field trips I've ever been on were ones where I was a parent volunteer with my kids).

Most of my school days were spent walking to and from, except in my early high school years before I had my driver's license. We lived a distance from my high school so my Dad dropped me off in the morning or I rode with my friend and her sister who drove us to school. My mom would then pick us up after school.

When I got my driver's permit, almost everyday I'd ask my Mom if I could drive home from school. Most of the time she'd say no but when she did say yes, she'd practically sit on my lap the whole way home. We had one long front seat and she'd sit close to me with her arm around my shoulder. She hated having to teach me to drive and was a nervous wreck! Funny thing is, I felt the same way when it was my turn as a parent!

Parent's Weekend

Back in September we attended parent's weekend at Arizona State where our daughter is a senior. As tradition would have it, we attended the football game on Saturday night. This year instead of a group of us going out to dinner first, our daughter Courtney and her 2 roommates decided to have a "tailgate" party at their apartment. The girls took care of everything and bbq'd hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone. It was so nice to be able to relax, talk, and have a little fun taking pictures before the game...

We also did something different this year by taking the light rail train to the game. The light rail is new and has only been up and running for about a year now. We've watched them build it since Courtney started at ASU so it was fun to be able to take it to the game...

Boy you talk about packed in like sardines. When the light rail pulled up and the doors opened, my daughter said "run run run!" I must not have been moving fast enough because Courtney gave me one big push and I went flying. One minute I was outside on the landing and the next minute I was inside the train. Luckily I landed on my feet!

Do you remember Courtney's best friend's sister Macey who was hit by a car last December? Macey has done so much better than predicted and to look at her you would never know what her poor body has been through in the last 10 months. She looks amazing and is doing fantastic. With all of the surgeries, Macey's head has been shaved so many times but her hair sure looks cute and sassy now! Here is a picture of my daughter's longtime best friend McKenzie, mom Robin, and sister Macey. Such beautiful women aren't they! I think this picture is a Christmas card in the making!

Beautiful and sweet roommate Jordie...

Once we were in the stadium and sitting in our seats, Courtney went up to use the restroom. After a few minutes I saw Courtney walking down the steps, but she passed us by. She had the cutest, most frail woman hanging onto her arm. Courtney had seen an elderly couple trying to maneuver the steep stairs down to their seats and decided to give them a helping hand...

Aren't they the sweetest looking things!

It's Friday

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: I mentioned a few days ago about suffering terribly from insomnia. Do any of you lay awake at night, counting sheep like I do!?

It's gotten so bad that I was awake at 4:00am yesterday morning, just bidding away on ebay! Thank goodness I was outbid on 99% of the items by mid afternoon!

I realize part of the problem is due to menopause but this is ridiculous! When you don't fall asleep until 4:00am (if you're lucky enough to sleep at all), it sure makes getting up in the morning really really hard! I feel like I'm dragging around most of the time.

#1 item on my to do list today: pick up Melatonin from the drugstore (Melatonin is a natural sleep aid and can be purchased over the counter).

Watch out insomnia, Melatonin here I come!

Just Shoot Me Now...

Cuz I'm gonna feel like dying later on!

It's 1:45am and I'm wide eyed and bushy tailed (is that how you spell bushy tailed?!)

My alarm is set for 3:45! I work at 5:00am!

Darn insomnia!!

Celebrating Mom

Last Tuesday was my mother's 71st birthday. Since she's still so active, it's hard to believe she's over 70, but she'll assure you she is! She leads a very busy and full life, is a beautiful person inside and out, and is in fantastic health. When I reach her age, I should be so lucky!

My sister Debbie and I decided a few years ago to fly to Colorado each year to celebrate with Mom on her special day. It's now become a tradition and one that I always look forward to and enjoy. My sister and I laugh so much and so often that I think it can be embarrassing for my mom but we can't help it. Life is just good when I'm around my family, plus factor in that Debbie really could be a stand-up comic and you get one thing: FUN!

Another thing is always certain, we're a picture taking family! We went to P.F.Chang's for dinner but had a little impromptu photo session first...

Fun times, great memories!

It's Friday

And I'm nosy...

So here's the question: I love the sight of pumpkins, truly they just make me smile! Do you love pumpkins as much as I do? Do you love Halloween as much as I do?

Then, top it off with a monogram...

Seriously...

Once again...

I.die!
