52 Blessings

Have a beautiful day...which our Beautiful One has created!

(It is Sunday right!?! This holiday at the end of the week thing has got me so confused! I've had to ask my family everyday "what day is it?")

A Baby Changes Everything...

We often get so caught up in the festivities of the season that we forget the real reason for the season. Yes, a baby changes everything...especially one particular baby, the Son of Christ. He is the reason for the season!

52 Blessings

Even though the last 3 weeks have been very stressful and I don't understand why certain events have happened, I still feel blessed. Worship music always soothes my soul.

The current California fires are not a threat to us personally but please keep those families who have lost their homes in your thoughts and prayers today. Such devastation is a real tragedy.

Also, please keep my sister Kim in your prayers if you would. Last week Kim fell off of a ladder (about 9 feet) landing smack dab on the concrete. She broke her upper arm, has a whopper of a black eye, and every muscle in her body is sore. She is in a wheelchair right now and on lots of pain meds. I visited her today and the poor thing is pretty beat up. It was quite an accident.

Today is Sunday...and I am blessed!

This song, Heart of Worship, has been a long time favorite of mine.

Lord, please help me to always remember that it's not about me, but that it's all about you, Jesus!

52 Blessings

Today is Sunday and I am blessed!

It's already time again to share with you another one of my favorite christian worship songs. This song is my favorite song of all time. I don't mean to sound morbid or anything but my family knows that I want this song played at my funeral. This song says it all for me...I Can Only Imagine!

** Have any of you started decorating for fall?! I've done a couple of things today and will bring out my fall decoration goodies sometime this week. I'm so excited for fall...I'm feeling giddy!

52 Blessings

I ended up not going away this weekend for our camping club trip...hubby went without me.

I have worked more than my fair share these last few weeks due to a nursing shortage at work, I'm losing the battle against my house and its upkeep, and to put it bluntly, I just needed a break from my husband...so I stayed home.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not fighting with my husband or anything, but this is the scenario. I've been married for over 25 years and my husband has always worked an ungodly amount of hours. The last 14 years he worked out of town, only to be home on weekends...so needless to say, I'm quite independent because I've had to be. Now fast forward to February '08. Hubby decides to retire even though he's only just over 50 years old, is now home 24/7, and is happy as a clam.

Now do you see why I stayed home!?! I'm thankful today for the alone time I had this weekend, for the chores I accomplished (we're having out of town company next weekend), and I'm extremely thankful that I have a husband that understands and doesn't give me grief about it.

So instead of feeling tired or resentful, I feel refreshed and rejuvenated...and ready to take on another week!

52 Blessings

Yes, today is Sunday and I'M WORN OUT!
It was a very tiring week for me. I work 2 days a week...but this last week I worked 4! That's 4 12-hour shifts I'm talking about. Yep, like I said, I'm worn out.

Yet thankful!

I'm thankful for my job. I LOVE my co-workers and more often than not, I love our patients.

I choose to work. I'm lucky in that I am not forced to work out of necessity. I'm thankful for having that choice.

I'm thankful that I work in a profession that will always offer opportunity. Heaven forbid something should happen to my hubby, I would be able to survive financially and would never be unemployed.

I'm thankful that it only takes me 5-10 minutes to get to work.

I'm thankful that not only does my family allow me to be away from home a few days a week but they are proud of me for doing it. I feel I have the best of both worlds.

Lord, I thank you today for my family, for my job, and especially for giving me choices. I pray that I am making wise ones.

52 Blessings and When Will I Ever Learn!?!

Handsome son came over today to use the pool...it was supposed to get to triple digits but it didn't quite make it thank goodness.

Anyways, I was in the spare bedroom packaging up some good mail, getting my Favorite Swap gift ready, and just doing busy stuff when he asked me to go in the pool with him.

"No" was all I said...and I said it rather quickly. Immediately I regretted it when I saw the look on his face.

I've done alot of reading on blogs about picking out a word for the year. I've never done this but way back in February I decided I'd pick "DO" for my word. My goal in picking this word was to actively "DO" more in life and just to be more in the moment.

I'm actively doing more and being more in the moment now aren't I!!

"Wait handsome son...just let me put on my bathing suit" (this is the reason why I didn't hesitate to say no in the first place...I hate swimsuits...especially me in them!)

Handsome son and I spent about 30 minutes lounging in the pool. I took the brush and scrubbed down the sides of the pool and we just talked and talked. We talked about school, jobs, 4th of July, and just whatever came to mind.

Today is Sunday and I'm thankful that God opened my eyes at that moment and urged me to "Do" more today. I ALMOST MISSED OUT ON THAT SPECIAL ONE ON ONE TIME WITH MY PRECIOUS SON...WHO ONLY WANTED TO SPEND TIME WITH HIS MOM. It makes me wonder how many other times I've missed out on valuable time with my children (no matter how old they are).

When will I ever learn?

52 Blessings

Happy Father's Day

Today I am thankful for the men God has placed in my life. I have been blessed with a devoted husband, adoring son, kind-hearted step-father, wonderful father-in-law, 3 brother-in-laws that love their wives, and crazy men friends that keep me laughing all the time...with each and every one of these men treating me with love and respect. Truly, what more could a girl ask for...yes, I am blessed!

Happy Father's Day guys...I love you all!

There's just something about the thought of "June 1st" that makes me happy...and grateful. Flat out, it just makes me think of...

* vacation
* hot weather
* watermelon
* shorts and flip flops
* lazy days
* warm summer nights
* Father's Day
* mall shopping to avoid the heat
* the beach
* friends
* my anniversary and handsome son's birthday
* more free time

What do you think of when you think of June 1st?

52 Blessings

This day I am thankful, and eternally grateful, for the brave American soldiers, men and women alike, who have sacrificed their lives for the USA, their homeland, and it's citizens.

I am thankful, and blessed, that they have sacrificed their lives and their safety...for mine.

52 Blessings

It is Sunday once again and I have so much to be thankful for today. I feel blessed to know this bunch of people. I'm thankful for their friendship, for the fun times we always have when we're together, and for the beautiful weather we all enjoyed this weekend.

This is our attempt at a self-portrait. At first they weren't too sure about my idea but as you can see they came around. They now think a self-portrait should become a regular part of our get-togethers.

As you can see, by the 3rd attempt, we got pretty good at getting everyone in the picture...even my little Jake!

52 Blessings

My Sunday blessing is late getting posted, it's now Monday night!

Sunday I was able to spend a fair amount of time with my handsome son and it was such a blessing to me. We don't get to spend alot of time together because of his school and work, my work, and well, just because life gets busy. The older your kids get, the busier they become, and unfortunately, the time you get to spend with them lessens. It's a harsh reality.

It was such a joy and a pleasure raising this young man and there are days that I long to hold that little boy who loved to splash in the pool for hours on end, or lay on the couch drinking his warm milk and watching Full House, or playing roller hockey in the driveway after school, everyday, for what seemed like years. I'd love one more time to hear that fun, carefree giggle that grade schoolers give so freely...but another harsh reality is our children grow up, all too fast.

My handsome son has grown into a tender hearted, intelligent, loving, hardworking, serious natured, respectful young man...and I love him more than he will ever know.

52 Blessings

I've seen "52 Blessings" around on other blogs and thought I would mention a few things that I am thankful for today.

I can't believe I'm showing you my feet because they are not one of my best features...

But today I'm thankful that:

1) The weather was hot enough to wear flip flops
2) The foot massage I got today during my pedicure helped to ease my hurting feet
3) No matter how unattractive your feet are, cute flip flops and a pedicure help to make any feet look better

Tonight I was also thankful for this...my all-time favorite food. It was so warm today that I didn't have much of an appetite. A big slice of watermelon was just right for dinner.
